Unique and attractive tourism products
Currently, Ha Nam province has more than 200 accommodation establishments with more than 4,000 rooms serving tourists, including 3 5-star hotels; 1 potential location for developing a national tourist area whose planning has been approved by the Prime Minister, which is Tam Chuc Tourist Area, and 12 recognized tourist destinations. Ha Nam also owns many typical tourism products, notably cultural - spiritual tourism (Tam Chuc Pagoda, Dia Tang Phi Lai, Tran Thuong Temple...), traditional festivals (Tich Dien, Tam Chuc Spring) and craft village tourism (Dai Hoang braised fish, Doi Tam drum, Nha Xa)...
In addition, the opening and operation of walking spaces associated with trade and tourism development in Phu Ly City and Duy Tien Town, Flamingo Golden Hill, Sun Urban City... have contributed to creating favorable conditions for tourists to visit and shop, supporting the development of community tourism models and craft village products.
According to Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Director of the Vietnam Institute for Tourism Development Research, Ha Nam tourism has recently begun to attract more tourists. The local government also focuses on tourism development and has oriented the development of this green economic sector through resolutions, policies and provincial planning.
New "magnet pole" attracts tourists
Mr. Nguyen Cong Hoan, General Director of Flamingo Redtours, said that although Ha Nam tourism came later, it has advantages in terms of location and has many lessons in attracting investment in tourism. Moreover, the locality also has many advantages when large investors are implementing large-scale projects here. "Ha Nam will become a new destination with strong appeal to tourists, and may even become a magnet for tourists, a new phenomenon of Vietnam tourism in the near future," Mr. Hoan commented.
Flamingo Redtours CEO cited that Ha Nam was consecutively honored by the World Travel Awards as “World's Leading Local Cultural Destination” (2023) and “Asia's Leading Emerging Tourist Destination” (2024).
In fact, Ha Nam tourism is becoming more and more attractive, growing in both the number of visitors and tourism service revenue. Mr. Hoang Minh Tan, Director of Ha Nam Tourism and Trade Company Limited shared: “In 2024, we recorded a growth rate of over 20% compared to 2023, with many contracts for booking summer tours in 2025”.
Mr. Mai Thanh Chung, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ha Nam, said that in 2024, Ha Nam's revenue from tourism and travel will reach 1,300 billion VND, an increase of 169% compared to 2023. The total number of tourists will reach 4.7 million, and revenue from tourists will reach 3,600 billion VND. With the goal of welcoming 5.1 million visitors by 2025, Ha Nam is implementing synchronous development strategies.
According to the plan, Ha Nam will have 4 golf courses. Stone Valley Golf Resort - Kim Bang golf course (Ba Sao town, Kim Bang), Legend Valley Country Club sports and tourism complex (Tuong Linh commune, Kim Bang) have officially come into operation, making golf tourism a new tourism product in Ha Nam. The province is determined to exploit its full potential, strengths and resources to develop tourism into an important economic sector, building Ha Nam into an attractive destination with unique tourism products.
To overcome the limitations of infrastructure and monotonous tourism products, Ha Nam is developing walking streets, shopping centers, community tourism and craft village products. Service quality is also improved by controlling sustainable tourism standards, implementing digital transformation in tourism promotion and management. Enterprises participate in organizing tourism, cultural and sports events to attract visitors. The orientation of linking with Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City helps Ha Nam become an attractive destination in the Northern tourism system.
At the same time, the province also promotes cooperation with large travel agencies, builds tours combined with major tourist centers, forming the Bai Dinh - Trang An - Tam Chuc, Huong Pagoda - Tam Chuc routes. This will be a unique tourism product to attract visitors, prolonging their stay in Ha Nam.
“In the coming time, Ha Nam will orient the development of rural tourism based on the effective exploitation of traditional cultural values and landscape environment of Ha Nam rural areas. From there, change the mindset of agricultural production to rural economic development, build and develop products, goods and services in the field of tourism with advantages, contribute to the shift of rural economic structure, create jobs on the spot, increase income for rural workers”, Mr. Mai Thanh Chung shared.
One of Ha Nam's priorities is to invest heavily in transport infrastructure, providing convenient connections with Hanoi and neighboring provinces. Many highways, railways, and roads are being upgraded to facilitate tourists' travel. At the same time, the province is improving the quality of tourism services with resorts, high-end hotels, shopping centers, and restaurants. Ecotourism, high-end resorts, and sports tourism are being promoted to diversify experiences.
