At 9pm on the 28th of Tet (January 27), Nguyen Hue Flower Street opened after more than half a month of construction.

In its 22nd year, the flower street has the theme "Brocade and flower country, happy spring", including three segments : Solidarity , Transformation and Development , representing the historical stages of the country.

More than an hour earlier, thousands of people had gathered on both sides of the flower street, waiting to get inside. Security guards repeatedly reminded people to stand in order, not to push or climb over the fence.

Right after the opening ceremony, people flocked to Nguyen Hue Flower Street to visit. The largest crowd was at the main entrance, near the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

This area is highlighted by two snake mascots named Kim Ty (female, left) 25 m long and Ngan Ty (male) 42 m long. The two snakes twist three times, forming a base more than 11 m wide, over 6 m high from the body adjacent to the flower bed to the top of the head.

People jostle to take photos with Kim Ty and Ngan Ty. About 70% of the materials used to make this pair of mascots are environmentally friendly. The snake's head and belly are covered with painted pressed bamboo panels, and the entire upper back is covered with reflective mica scales, creating a vivid image for the welcome gate. The highlight is the snake's eyes with a diameter of 10 cm, painted to give the mascots life.

At the end of the flower street, at the intersection with Ton Duc Thang Street, is a snake mascot that is more than 50 meters long and 10 meters high. The model also attracts a large number of people to visit and take pictures.

The snake has a Southern touch with a scarf and conical hat "accessories", simulating the shape of a king cobra with its head raised. The mascot's entire body is covered in green - the color of life and growth, surrounded by blooming lotus flowers.

Many Snake mascots, miniature landscapes, and flower carpets also attract people to enjoy. This year's flower street has about 90 mascots with diverse colors and shapes.

Mr. Vo Thanh Nhat, 38 years old (Tan Phu district) took a photo of his family with the mascot of the year of At Ty. This is the second time his family has visited Nguyen Hue flower street. "Although we know it will be very crowded on the opening day, the whole family still wants to go see it. The snake models are all very beautiful, soulful and have their own style," Mr. Nhat said.

Magda (middle) from Poland and her friends strolled along the flower street. She said she was very excited and lucky to travel to Ho Chi Minh City during the Lunar New Year.

In the center of the flower street are two foam robots, about three meters high and one meter wide. Each weighs 500 kg and can move and converse in many languages.

Two robots are decorated with 2,000 dried flowers, creating a colorful spring outfit. The robot's face is an LED screen with a happy expression and New Year's greetings to everyone.

Many people lined up to take photos with the two robots. Visitors just need to wave their hands and pose on the screen, the system will automatically take a photo after 15 seconds. The image is transmitted to the LED screen placed on the robot's belly. Visitors can scan the QR code to download their photos.

By 9:30 p.m., the number of visitors to the flower street was even more crowded, all the paths were full. Security guards continuously reminded people not to climb the hoops in the miniature landscape, pick flowers, and encouraged them to walk in the right direction to avoid traffic jams.

The flower street will open to serve the spring travel and sightseeing needs of city residents and tourists from 7pm on December 28 (January 27) to 9pm on the 5th day of Tet (February 2).
