Many large coffee chains in Ho Chi Minh City announced that they will operate during Tet, most of them without any additional fees. Meanwhile, some restaurants will charge an additional fee of VND5,000 - 10,000.
In addition to infrastructure projects put into operation such as river bus routes, metro lines and Saigon riverside parks, Ho Chi Minh City also organizes events with strong humanistic and social values such as Nguyen Hue flower street in District 1, spring flower market "On the wharf, under the boat" at Binh Dong wharf, District 8.
The public museum system is open and offers free admission to visitors from the first to the third day of Tet. These unique cultural and tourist works contribute to brightening the city, attracting a large number of people to visit on the first day of the new year.
The whole family of Mr. Tan and Ms. An (Binh Thanh, Ho Chi Minh City) brought their two children wearing "uniform" ao dai to take photos of the new spring day at Nguyen Hue flower street on the morning of the first day of Tet.
Ms. An said that after wishing the elders in the family a happy new year, they went to the flower street to take family photos for good luck in the new year. The Tet atmosphere this morning was cool so the whole family was comfortable wearing clothes without worrying about the heat.
The number of visitors during Tet also helps the shops around the flower street, book street, and city center open on the first day of Tet to be full of customers.
Tourists mainly visit Nguyen Hue flower street, Tet Book Street festival, city center area, pagodas...
At Phuc Long tea and coffee shop on Mac Thi Buoi street (District 1), after visiting the flower street, many families stopped by to order drinks and were surprised because the price was the same as usual, with no extra charge.
Similarly, many large coffee chains such as Highlands, Starbucks, The Coffee House, Phe La… have announced that they will operate throughout Tet, open from morning and do not charge extra fees. The staff of the shops serve continuously but at many times there is a line of people waiting.
Similarly, restaurants that are open during Tet are also quite busy in the afternoon. "On the morning of the first day of Tet, many people come to visit and wish each other a happy new year around noon so they stop by to eat. Because not many places are open, pho restaurants have become the choice of many families," said an employee of a pho restaurant on Vo Van Tan Street, District 3.
Meanwhile, supermarket systems and shopping malls are closed for Tet, except for Aeon Mall and Gigamall, which are still open to serve city residents, with service hours from 10am to 10pm.
According to the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, on the first day of the new year, at the three wholesale and retail markets, most of the stalls were closed for Tet, only a few small traders opened to sell for the day, mainly vegetables, fruits, the number of customers coming to the market was very low to buy more missing products such as herbs, spices...
Besides, store chains such as Family Mart, GS25... operate throughout Tet.
Because most distribution systems stopped operating and people did not have the need to buy goods on the first day of Tet, the market did not fluctuate compared to previous days.
In addition, on the first day of Tet, people have the need to visit and travel to entertainment areas. Entrance fees to entertainment areas are publicly listed and basically will not increase during the Tet At Ty 2025.
