Financial, human resource and maintenance constraints make it difficult for the organizers of Nguyen Hue Flower Street Tet At Ty 2025 to extend the opening time beyond 7 days as many people expected.
Since its first implementation in 2004, Nguyen Hue Flower Street Tet 2025 has turned 22 years old.
Considered a cultural symbol of Tet, this unique project is organized and implemented by Saigon Tourist Group, in coordination with departments, agencies and businesses, under the direction of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
Many people hope to extend the service time of the flower street.
According to the plan, Nguyen Hue Flower Street Tet 2025 will close at 9pm on February 2 (5th day of Tet). Many people regret and hope to extend the service time of the flower street compared to the current 7-day period.
In response to this opinion, on the afternoon of February 2, a representative of the organizing committee said that Nguyen Hue Flower Street was carried out entirely with socialized capital. Sponsoring businesses not only contributed to the cost of brand promotion but also shouldered many other expenses.
Every day the flower street is open, the organizers have to pay many additional costs such as fresh flowers, security, maintenance, electricity, water, etc. This poses a financial problem, forcing the organizers to calculate optimally to ensure the quality and effectiveness of the event.
Right from the technical design stage, Saigontourist Group - the organizer - worked closely with partners to have the most reasonable cost for each item.
The construction of the large landscape was negotiated to get a good price, while most of the small landscape was done by Binh Quoi Tourist Village (under Saigontourist Group). In addition, the design team also had to carefully consider the quantity and type of flowers and place orders early to avoid waste.
Maintenance pressure
With more than 100,000 flower baskets used throughout the 7-day period, the organizers emphasized that maintaining fresh flowers for a long time is a big challenge. Not all types of flowers can be preserved for a long time, while weather factors can affect the durability of flowers.
If flowers bloom early or wither unexpectedly, replacement costs can add up significantly, putting a huge strain on your event budget.
In recent years, the flower street has been open until the last night of the Tet holiday, to create maximum conditions for people to visit.
According to the organizers, most of the people in Ho Chi Minh City have returned to the city at this time to prepare for work and study, so there is still enough time to enjoy the flower street before the closing ceremony at 9:00 p.m. on the last day.
Another important factor mentioned by the organizers is the rest time of those directly involved in the operation of the flower street.
During Tet, the team of workers, security guards, and technicians worked tirelessly to keep the flower street running. Extending the opening hours meant they had to sacrifice more of their limited Tet holiday time.
"For the above reasons, we affirm that maintaining the 7-day operating period is the most reasonable solution to both ensure the quality of the flower street and meet people's needs without creating too much pressure on finances and personnel," the representative of the organizing committee affirmed.
The 22nd Nguyen Hue Flower Street, with the theme "Brocade and flower country, happy spring in harmony", opens to serve the spring travel and sightseeing needs of city residents and tourists from 7:00 p.m. on January 27, 2025 (ie 28th of Tet) to 9:00 p.m. on February 2, 2025 (ie 5th of Tet).
This is not only a special cultural event to welcome the new year but also a symbolic work of dynamic, creative, modern, and affectionate Ho Chi Minh City every Tet holiday.
