On the morning of September 24, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a working session with the Standing Committee of Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee on the socio-economic development situation in the first 9 months of 2024 and key tasks until the end of 2024.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh praised and highly appreciated the efforts of Dong Nai province since the beginning of his term.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assessed that Dong Nai province has an important geographical location, is a traffic hub, closely linked with Ho Chi Minh City and Ba Ria-Vung Tau. This is also an industrial capital, has diverse natural and ecological landscapes, and is the "green lung" of the Southeast region.
The Prime Minister praised the efforts and important socio-economic results since the beginning of the term. Dong Nai has made great efforts, especially in site clearance for Long Thanh airport, actively implementing key national projects such as Bien Hoa-Vung Tau expressway, Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3...
The Prime Minister assessed that Dong Nai can complete the 5-year socio-economic development targets for the 2021-2025 period in a difficult context, contributing to the completion of the goals set out in the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.
In addition, the Prime Minister also pointed out the shortcomings and challenges of Dong Nai. In particular, the economy has a high growth rate, but it is not really sustainable, not commensurate with the different potential, outstanding opportunities, and competitive advantages.
Leaders of the Ministry spoke at the working session with Dong Nai province.
The Prime Minister asked Dong Nai province leaders to more clearly assess the role, position, and unique potential of the locality in order to create competitive advantages and make more positive contributions to the region and the country.
"Strive to make Dong Nai the leading economic development locality in the country, a civilized, modern, high-income province in the top group," the Prime Minister advised.
The Prime Minister asked Dong Nai to focus on three key areas and eight main tasks.
Mentioning the "3 pioneers" in implementing socio-economic development tasks, the Prime Minister especially noted that Dong Nai province needs to prioritize the development of synchronous and modern transport infrastructure. Along with that are digital infrastructure, healthcare, and education.
Leaders of many ministries, departments and branches attended the meeting.
"With its position, Dong Nai needs to strengthen regional, national and international connectivity. Promote its role as one of the region's important trading centers. Especially effectively exploit Long Thanh International Airport after completion, Bien Hoa dual-use airport, and expressways that are being invested in," the Prime Minister emphasized.
The Prime Minister asked Dong Nai to pay attention to people's lives and effectively exploit major projects being invested in such as Long Thanh airport and Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway.
According to local reports, in the first 6 months of 2024, Dong Nai's GRDP increased by 6.8%, higher than the national average (6.42%), ranking 3rd/6 in the Southeast region and 25th/63 nationwide.
