Dong Hung: Competition to encourage learning and talent

Dong La Primary School (Dong Hung) awarded students with high scores in the Timo International Math Olympiad and the Vietnam Titan Math Olympiad.

At the end of March, Dong La Primary School organized a ceremony to reward students who won medals and gold cups in the two international math Olympiads Timo and Titan Vietnam in the 2024-2025 school year. Pham Huyen Anh, a 5A student, was one of the students who won a gold medal at the international math Olympiad Timo. According to Huyen Anh, the school's timely encouragement and rewards have given her more motivation to strive for higher achievements in upcoming exams and competitions.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Uyen, Principal of Dong La Primary School, said: Rewarding students with excellent academic achievements and supporting students in difficult circumstances is a regular activity of the school. To have funding for implementation, the school's Learning Promotion Association promotes socialization and launches a movement to raise pigs for learning promotion. In the movement to raise pigs for learning promotion, students participate voluntarily, contributing from their daily savings. The joy comes not only from the gifts received but also from the spiritual value spread, creating motivation to study for all participating students.

Tien Thang village is one of the villages that effectively implemented the emulation movement to encourage learning, encourage talents, and build a learning society in Phong Duong commune. The number of households in the village has achieved the title of "Learning Family", many of which have maintained this title for 5 consecutive years. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, Head of the Village's Learning Promotion Association, said: Most of the households that have achieved "Cultural Family" are also "Learning Family". Implementing the movement to build "Cultural Family", "Learning Family", families have raised awareness, well implemented the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; actively worked and produced to stabilize and improve their lives; responded to activities and models to participate in building a cultural life, building new rural areas; participated in preventing and fighting crimes and eliminating social evils as well as effectively implementing patriotic emulation movements.

In Dong Hung, the Association for the Promotion of Learning has been established in all communes, towns, villages, residential groups and most agencies, units and schools in the district with 329 branches; 819 Education Promotion Committees, more than 96,500 members, accounting for about 39% of the population. Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam, Chairwoman of the District Association for the Promotion of Learning, informed: The emulation movement to promote learning, encourage talents, and build a learning society has developed widely in communes, towns, villages, residential groups, agencies, schools, armed forces and clans. Associations at all levels have synchronously deployed the mobilization and evaluation of the titles of "Learning Citizen", "Learning Family", "Learning Clan", "Learning Community", "Learning Unit"; promptly commended, rewarded and encouraged collectives and individuals, especially students, to continue to strive to excel in their studies. Every year, about 55,000 families are awarded the title of “Learning Family”, more than 40,000 citizens are awarded the title of “Learning Citizen”, more than 700 clans are awarded the title of “Learning Clan”, 100% of units register and achieve the title of “Learning Unit”. By the end of 2024, the district’s education promotion fund will reach nearly 51 billion VND. The fund has effectively supported educational activities in schools, especially rewarding excellent students and teachers and helping students in difficult circumstances.

Ms. Tam added: The emulation movement to encourage learning and talent has produced many advanced models, contributing to spreading the spirit of lifelong learning in the community. Many groups and individuals were awarded flags, certificates of merit, and medals by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education, and were commended by the Provincial and District People's Committees.
