Talking to Tuoi Tre Online , Marian Dacalos (25 years old, in the Philippines) confirmed that she is the girl in the clip above. Marian came to Vietnam with her boyfriend's family on April 8. This is her first time going abroad.
The first time she came to Vietnam, she spent time visiting Dong Xuan Market (Hanoi). When she saw the mini Vietnamese conical hat, she immediately thought of how cute her two cats, Ysabelle and Vanta, would look wearing the hat. The female tourist bought it for 15,000 VND each.
Later, Marian was told by everyone that this hat is called Non La. This hat is very close to the daily life of Vietnamese people, often used by people to protect from the rain and sun. The Non La has a pointed shape, woven from different types of leaves such as palm leaves, banyan leaves, straw, bamboo, etc.
"I am a content creator who loves sharing my adventures, lifestyle and travels on social media.
I thought this conical hat was so cute that I wanted to share it with more people. Therefore, I decided to return to the journey to bring this hat from Vietnam to my homeland to personally put it on my cat," Marian said.
The Filipino girl said that her friends and fans really love the conical hat. Many people commented and texted her asking where she bought the hat. One Vietnamese even commented: "I live in Vietnam but I have to ask foreign tourists where to buy conical hats."
Some foreign visitors felt regretful that they had seen this video sooner. They wanted to return to Vietnam to bring home a real conical hat.
People have also named Ysabelle (the cat in the video) "Cat Nguyen" or "Vietmeow". The cat's owner feels like she's a star right now.
Vietnam is as beautiful as a Ghibli animation in the eyes of international tourists
During her trip to Vietnam, Marian spent 5 days and 4 nights exploring Hanoi's Old Quarter and stopped by Ninh Binh for a day trip. She commented that Vietnam resembles a Studio Ghibli animation when she saw the city with lots of trees.
She said that although the locals did not speak English fluently, they still tried to help her.
Marian's favorite area is the old quarter, where there are many "delicious" coffee shops. She enjoys the Vietnamese coffee culture.
"I'm addicted to coffee. I love the coffee shops in Vietnam. They all have a relaxing atmosphere. I often sit on the terrace, sip coffee, and observe the city and the Vietnamese people," she said.
She also spends time exploring Vietnamese cuisine, rating Pho 10 as one of the best meals she has ever had. She also loves egg coffee from Giang Cafe and black milk tea from HipHub.
Marian also mentioned a massage parlor in Vietnam that had great neck manipulation techniques. She would definitely stop by on her next trip.
However, Marian was culture shocked to see motorbikes running on the sidewalk and not slowing down when they saw pedestrians crossing the street.
However, she said, the S-shaped country always left many beautiful memories in her heart. She hopes to visit Ho Chi Minh City and Sa Pa next time to explore more cafes.
When she returned home, Marian also filmed a travel vlog in Vietnam to preserve memories and show her friends about this beautiful country.
"My friends in the Philippines are very curious about Vietnam. They are always amazed when watching the videos. We plan to come back next year to learn more about the country and its people," she said.
