At the forum "Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership - What opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises" on the afternoon of November 10, Vietnamese and international enterprises shared about the need for Vietnamese enterprises to seize opportunities and exploit cooperation information when coming to the US market.
Mr. Le Truong Ky - Chairman of the Board of Directors of DINCO Construction Engineering Joint Stock Company, a unit that has cooperated with US enterprises, said that the biggest concern of foreign enterprises is the transparency in financial reports and the capacity of partner enterprises.
They do not need you to tell too much about what you have done, but they want to know whether your business can meet their requirements or not, and whether it is on schedule or not. Honesty in ability is highly valued by US businesses. They will also carefully consider the working environment. In addition, businesses also need to prepare a team of human resources with foreign language skills to facilitate communication with partners.
“American business culture is about getting to the heart of the matter. The foreign language ability of human resources must be good to communicate with partners as well as be honest and fulfill mutual commitments,” Mr. Ky emphasized.
Mr. Mai Minh Vuong - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nhat Phong Van Transport Joint Stock Company shared a real story, in 2010 when the company had the opportunity to serve a US company in the chemical transportation stage. During the implementation process, the unit working in Ho Chi Minh City was late and the contract was then affected.
Through such stories, we can see that currently, when Vietnamese enterprises are facing many opportunities, Mr. Vuong's enterprise itself has recently received many cooperation proposals from US enterprises, but to take advantage of these opportunities, Vietnamese enterprises need to clearly understand the standards of their partners and work on time. In addition, the challenge of human resources is also a limitation of Vietnam, which needs to be improved in the coming time.
Mr. Michael Luong - Project Director of Clean Energy Solutions Development Company (Asia Clean Capital Vietnam - ACCV) said that the difficulty when he first came to Vietnam was human resources. From 2005 to 2009, the company could only recruit 9 engineers who had graduated from university with sufficient foreign language skills.
Therefore, investing in human resources in foreign languages is very necessary. Enterprises are willing to support schools to send students to study. Besides, to help foreign enterprises enter the locality, preferential policies and support from the government are needed.
Also at the forum, Mr. Christopher Allan Vanllon - President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam - Da Nang Chapter affirmed his commitment to supporting the development of Da Nang. "The American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam is always a strategic partner in Central Vietnam. We will do our best to promote the investment environment in Da Nang to attract more FDI projects as well as support small and medium enterprises" - Mr. Christopher Allan Vanllon shared.
