Last week, Hanoi also discovered 78 more dengue fever outbreaks in 21 districts, towns and cities.
Since the beginning of the year, Hanoi has detected a total of 15,354 cases of dengue fever (an increase of more than 3 times compared to the same period in 2022). Patients are distributed in 30/30 districts, towns and cities; 557/579 communes, wards and towns.
In the first 9 months of 2023, Hanoi also detected 1,029 dengue fever outbreaks. Currently, the city has 289 active outbreaks in 28 districts, towns and cities.
Some outbreaks have been complicated and prolonged, with many patients recorded, such as: Phung Xa Commune (Thach That District) with 485 cases; Huu Bang Commune (Thach That District) with 340 cases; Dong Village, Cao Vien Commune (Thanh Oai District) with 70 cases.
Notably, according to the Hanoi CDC, monitoring results in some places continue to record insect indexes after treatment that exceed the risk threshold by 3-4 times.
Hanoi CDC predicts that the peak of dengue fever in Hanoi will fall in October and November. With the current weather, daily temperatures fluctuate between 26-32⁰C, which is a very favorable natural condition for the emergence of larvae and mosquitoes.
Combined with the fact that there have been many outbreaks and many cases in the city, the density of disease-transmitting mosquitoes continues to remain high, with many locations exceeding the threshold, leading to a high risk of disease outbreaks... Therefore, the epidemic situation will continue to develop complicatedly in the coming weeks.
Many experts say that dengue fever is breaking previous rules, posing many challenges in disease control.
