Accordingly, the Food Safety Department received information about a suspected case of alcohol poisoning that occurred after eating and drinking alcohol at the Quang Tri snakehead fish noodle shop (address: 882 alley 880 30/4 street, ward 11, Vung Tau city, Ba Ria Vung Tau province), in which 6 people ate.

Up to now, there are 4 patients being treated at Vung Tau Hospital with symptoms of headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, and fatigue.

In the face of the above situation, the Food Safety Department requested the Department of Health of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to urgently direct the hospital to focus all resources to actively treat the patients, not to affect their health and lives. In case of necessity, it is possible to request support for professional consultation with the upper-level hospital.

The Food Safety Department requested the temporary suspension of the operation of the facility suspected of causing the poisoning. The Department of Health coordinated with relevant agencies to trace the origin of the food and alcohol products suspected of causing the poisoning in the above incident, and to detect and strictly handle violations of food safety regulations (if any).

Along with that, the Department of Health of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province coordinates with the functional agencies of the industry and trade sector to strengthen inspection and supervision of food safety for alcohol production and trading establishments; focusing on small-scale alcohol production and trading establishments, especially craft alcohol brewing establishments.

Authorities promptly prevent unsafely produced and mixed alcohol, alcohol of unknown origin, and alcohol without labels, which can seriously affect consumers' health.

In addition, units should strengthen propaganda and guidance for food service establishments and street food to ensure hygiene and food safety conditions, strictly manage the origin of food ingredients, three-step food inspection, store food samples and hygiene in processing stages.

In particular, authorities guide people to raise awareness and responsibility to ensure safety in alcohol production and trading, not to abuse alcohol and to ensure safety when choosing and using alcohol.
