Currently, the Tri Thien Hue Zone Party Committee Tunnels relic has been invested in, restored and embellished by authorities at all levels, worthy of its historical value and stature as a national relic.

To achieve this historic victory, it is impossible not to mention the role, position and importance of the Tri Thien Hue Regional Party Committee Tunnels, which were started in August 1967, when the resistance war against the US to save the country of our army and people entered a fierce phase. In addition to its responsibility as the supreme command agency of the Tri Thien Hue battlefield, the tunnels were also a "bridge" to carry out the strategic intention of the Central Committee to open the direction of attack on Route 9, creating conditions for the development of the battlefields; especially the Tri Thien Hue battlefield.

After research and selection, the Tri Thien Hue Regional Party Committee decided to dig a tunnel in the Khe Trai area (Huong Van Ward, Huong Tra Town) to create a connection between the mountains, plains and urban areas, breaking the enemy's blockade and division. At the same time, it was used as a command base, creating favorable conditions for the Military Region Command to directly direct the attacks on Hue city during the Tet Offensive of 1968.

In extremely difficult conditions in terms of human resources, material resources and always lurking dangers, but under the leadership of comrade Le Tu Minh, also known as comrade Le Minh, Deputy Secretary of the Regional Party Committee, Secretary of the Hue City Party Committee, Commander of the Hue Front, the tunnel was quickly completed, becoming the headquarters of the Military Region Command, and the place where many important meetings of the Tri Thien Hue Regional Party Committee took place, making many decisions that determined major battles on the Tri Thien battlefield, especially the victory of the General Offensive and Uprising in the Spring of 1968.

In December 1967, an important conference took place here to make strategic decisions with coordination between the army corps, creating the success of the 1968 Spring General Offensive and Uprising in Thua Thien Hue, creating momentum for the victory of the 1975 Spring General Offensive and Uprising to unify the country.

According to Mr. Le Ngoc Anh, former Captain of the Tunnel Guard Team of the Tri Thien Hue Party Committee and the person who approached the tunnel quite early, from the time the tunnel was formed until the following years, the tunnel was located deep in the rugged mountainous area, but not far from Hue city, with many advantages in commanding our army and people during the Spring 1968 General Offensive and Uprising. "From the first minute of preparing forces, concentrating troops, training, politics... to the tasks of each attack, how to attack..., all came from here because this was the command center. And until the first and second campaigns were completed, the Tri Thien Party Committee withdrew and handed them over to Huong Tra", Mr. Le Ngoc Anh recalled.

Due to its role, position, importance and great contributions to the cause of national liberation and unification, in 1996, the Tri Thien Hue Zone Party Committee tunnels were recognized by the State as a National Revolutionary Historical Relic.

With the tradition and morality of drinking water and remembering its source of the nation, in 2022, this relic was invested in and restored by authorities at all levels to be worthy of the historical value and stature of a national relic, with many construction items: Upgrading Provincial Road 16, from Binh Dien Bridge to Trai intersection (Huong Binh commune) to the tunnel; investing in a road connecting Provincial Road 16 to the ferry and connecting waterway traffic from the Trai intersection ferry to the tunnel; embellishing the landscape; building a Memorial House; guard bunker; Hoang Cam kitchen; artillery position on the top of the mountain...

Currently, the revolutionary historical site of the Tri Thien Hue Party Committee Tunnels is a red address, a tourist attraction that educates the revolutionary tradition for the young generation in general, and at the same time, becomes one of the potential destinations for eco-tourism in Hue City in general and Huong Tra Town in particular.
