According to information from the Department of Cultural Heritage (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), at 1:00 a.m. on December 5 (Vietnam time), at the 19th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage (Convention 2003) taking place in Paraguay, UNESCO will consider registering the dossier of the Ba Chua Xu Temple Festival on Sam Mountain as a World Intangible Cultural Heritage. The Ba Chua Xu Temple Festival on Sam Mountain (Chau Doc City, An Giang) is a unique festival that has existed for a long time, imbued with the cultural and spiritual values of the people of the Southern river region, taking place in the fourth lunar month every year. The Ba Chua Xu Temple on Sam Mountain is an architectural work in the shape of the letter "Quoc" in the shape of a lotus-shaped tower, with a three-tiered roof, covered with large blue tubular tiles, and the roof corners are high like the bow of a boat gliding on the waves. The walls are tiled, the door frames are made of precious wood and are carved with elaborate and delicate patterns. Every year, the Ba Chua Xu Temple of Sam Mountain (Nui Sam Ward) attracts millions of visitors from all over the country and abroad to visit and worship. The most crowded time is during the Ba Chua Xu Festival of Sam Mountain from April 22 to 27 (lunar calendar). The Ba Chua Xu Festival of Sam Mountain is performed according to traditional rituals, including: the ceremony of carrying the statue of the Lady from the top of Sam Mountain down to the temple, the Ba Ba ceremony, the ceremony of requesting the royal decree of Thoai Ngoc Hau and his two wives, the Tuc Yet ceremony, the Xay Chau ceremony, the Chanh Te ceremony and the Hoi Sac ceremony. Of which, on April 22, the ceremony of carrying the statue of the Lady from the old sandstone pedestal on the top of Sam Mountain to the temple will take place, and on the night of April 23 to the early morning of April 24, the Ba Ba ceremony will be held. The Tuc Yet and Xay Chau ceremonies are the two main ceremonies that will be held on the night of April 25th and the morning of April 26th with the ritual of praying for favorable weather, fertile land, bountiful harvests, and the health and happiness of the people. The Via Ba Chua Xu Nui Sam Festival will end on April 27th after the Chanh Te and Hoi Sac ceremonies. With its outstanding values, in 2014, the Via Ba Chua Xu Nui Sam Festival was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage. If recognized by UNESCO, this will be the second heritage in the Southern region to become a Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity after Don Ca Tai Tu Nam Bo (2013).
