According to 9to5mac, Apple is warning users about a new vulnerability being exploited to attack iPhones with mercenary spyware.
Potentially targeted users have received emails from Apple about hackers being able to "remotely hack into their iPhones."
According to Reuters news agency , Apple has issued a warning to users in India and 91 other countries.
In addition, Apple said users should proactively protect their devices by updating to the latest software and should enable "Lockdown Mode" - a feature that disables some vulnerable functions on the iPhone.
Lockdown mode is applied to iPhone users who update to iOS 16 version.
To activate this mode, step 1, users go to Settings, then Privacy and Security, then select Blocked Mode.
Step two, click on the button to enable lockdown mode. The screen then changes interface, the user selects to enable lockdown mode again.
Then the system will reboot and the user is successful.
9to5mac said that iPhone attacks using this type of mercenary software are often very expensive, up to millions of dollars.

Previously, in 2021, Apple also sent similar warnings many times when new attack vulnerabilities were discovered.
The targets of these attacks are often political activists, government officials, diplomats...
In this case, the attacker installs malware to track user data and location.
In addition to patching the vulnerability, Apple is also taking legal action against spyware makers.
Israel's NSO Group is one of the most notorious. In late 2021, Apple sued NSO Group for its role in spying attacks on Apple users. The lawsuit is still ongoing.
