Cua Viet Town (Gio Linh District) - Cua Tung Town (Vinh Linh District) - Con Co Island District are like a sturdy tripod for Quang Tri to develop sea and island tourism. Many people expect that if this triangle is fully exploited, there will be unique tourism products.

Quang Tri currently has 75 km of coastline with many beautiful beaches. More than 15 nautical miles from the coast of Cua Tung and Cua Viet is Con Co Island. The triangle is also close to special national monuments such as Vinh Moc tunnels and Hien Luong - Ben Hai relics..., convenient for connecting sea tourism and cultural tourism. This triangle has a great advantage if it expands connections with localities in the region, because it is located at the end of the East-West Economic Corridor, before the "corridor" passes through the Lao Bao and La Lay international border gates connecting Vietnam with Laos, northeastern Thailand, Myanmar...

In the strategy for developing sea and island tourism, the Quang Tri provincial government has approved the master plan for the construction of the tourist service area along the Cua Tung - Cua Viet coastal route, the tourist service area along the Cua Tung - Vinh Moc route, the Cua Viet tourist service area and the Con Co island district tourist area. Many preferential policies and support for businesses and investors in building accommodation facilities have been issued. Up to now, the Cua Viet coastal tourist area has been planned and invested quite completely in terms of infrastructure, the Cua Viet - Cua Tung coastal route has also been completed. Cua Tung and Cua Viet are also two places where festivals often take place. Most recently, at the 2023 National Food and Culture Festival held on the occasion of April 30 - May 1 in Cua Viet, more than 40,000 visitors flocked here to visit, eat, drink, and have fun...

In recent years, the local government has also invested significantly in Con Co, with the aim of turning this place into a green tourist island. The tourist route to Con Co Island has now become a highlight of Quang Tri tourism. This island attracts tourists with its wild landscape and diverse ecosystem. In particular, there are 2 high-speed boats that take tourists to the island in just 45 minutes compared to 2 hours as before. Con Co Island District has integrated and allocated funds to renovate some tourist attractions, develop and upgrade some essential services such as electric cars to pick up and drop off guests, diving services to see coral reefs, etc.

" CARPETED" TO WELCOME QUALIFIED INVESTORS

According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Tan, Director of the Investment - Trade - Tourism Promotion Center of Quang Tri province, "vision" here means both vision and class in economic resources. Because in addition to the potential of historical relics and scenic spots, Quang Tri is still very wild and needs to be exploited...; if investors have a far enough vision and a large enough capital, they can absolutely make things happen.

Mr. Tan acknowledged that the development of the Cua Tung - Cua Viet - Con Co tourism triangle has not yet met expectations. The planning has not yet been completed and unified; infrastructure is still limited, the call for investors is still slow, many projects, if invested, are unfinished or not resolute... "Quang Tri province is always approaching, promoting, waiting, and rolling out the red carpet to welcome capable investors. They can invest at each "peak" of the triangle, but it would be great if there was enough economic potential to invest both onshore and offshore to increase connectivity," Mr. Tan expected.

Mr. Le Minh Tuan, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Tri province, said that the potential of this tourism triangle has been talked about a lot, the problem is how to turn that potential into reality. "The tourism triangle has been in the planning orientation of Quang Tri for many years and continues to be included in the development planning of Quang Tri province with a vision of 2030 - 2050. This is the right orientation, but calling for investment has not yet realized the orientation and potential," Mr. Tuan worried.

In that context, many projects investing in sea tourism services in the area, although granted "golden land" and with large areas, have very slow progress. Therefore, in addition to reviewing and correcting "suspended" projects, Quang Tri needs to continue to have a strategy to promote and call for investment, create a favorable and equal environment, and especially need an airport to create a boost.
