Quang Ngai: Sports and physical education have made great strides in development.

The physical training and sports movement in the province has recently developed strongly, attracting the participation of many people from all walks of life.

The mass sports movement is the foundation for developing high-performance sports. Therefore, over the past years, Quang Ngai has focused on developing grassroots sports through many activities such as: Sports Congress, Phu Dong Sports Festival, expanded grassroots sports tournaments, Olympic running day for the health of the people... In localities, the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" has been deployed in conjunction with the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" which has been widely deployed, has a strong influence, and has become an essential need of the majority of people. Mr. Ton Thanh Hai (47 years old), working in Son Tay district, shared, I have been practicing badminton for more than 5 years now. I currently participate in the district's badminton club with more than 20 members. Playing badminton regularly helps me stay healthy and gives me the opportunity to interact with members who share the same passion for sports in the locality.

The Pham Van Dong Square area (Quang Ngai City) has been newly built, spacious, airy, attracting many people to exercise, especially in the early morning and late afternoon. "My children and I often exercise together, walking around the square to improve our health," said Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Giao, in Nguyen Nghiem Ward (Quang Ngai City).

According to statistics from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in 2024, the whole province will have over 38% of people and 27% of families participating in regular physical training. The mass sports movement has developed strongly with many types, attracting many ages and subjects to participate in training. On average, each year, the province organizes over 20 provincial tournaments and 2-3 national tournaments. At the grassroots level, localities organize many grassroots sports tournaments, attracting thousands of athletes to participate in training and competition, contributing to promoting the physical training movement. In the province, many agencies, organizations and individuals have invested in mini soccer fields, tennis, volleyball, badminton, swimming pools, etc. In particular, recently, dozens of Pickleball training fields have been invested in and built by private establishments, contributing to the development of this sport.

In 2024, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism successfully coordinated to organize 21 provincial-level sports tournaments. Teams and youth teams participated in 29 national sports tournaments. The results achieved 161 medals, including 32 gold medals, 45 silver medals and 84 bronze medals. Notably, athlete Dinh Van Tam won a gold medal at the 2024 Asian Wushu Championship. At the 2024 Asian Youth Championship held in the UAE (United Arab Emirates), boxer Bui Duy Phong (14 years old) of Quang Ngai won a bronze medal... Quang Ngai currently has 11 athletes called up to serve in national teams and youth teams.

Since the beginning of the year, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has organized and coordinated many athletics, martial arts, chess, volleyball tournaments... In March, localities in the province organized the Olympic Running Day for the Health of the People in 2025. Thereby, raising awareness about the role, significance and effects of physical training in protecting and improving health and improving the quality of life of the people. Along with that, the province will host a number of major regional and national sports tournaments in 2025 such as the National Vovinam Tournament for Strong Teams, the National Youth Boxing Championship in 2025...

Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Lien Phuong said that in the coming time, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will continue to coordinate with departments, branches and localities to diversify mass sports activities; mobilize resources to invest in infrastructure, creating conditions to promote the development of the sports movement. Focus on training and building young teams, key high-performance athletes that Quang Ngai has strengths in such as martial arts, athletics... to have forces to participate in regional and national sports competitions.
