On March 28, the Vietnam Archaeological Association held its 4th term congress (2025 - 2030). At the end of the congress, Associate Professor, Dr. Tong Trung Tin was re-elected as President of the Vietnam Archaeological Association. The congress also elected 8 Vice Presidents. Of which, Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Van Liem is concurrently the General Secretary; the remaining Vice Presidents include: Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Chi Hoang, Dr. Phan Thanh Hai, Dr. Nguyen Van Son, Dr. Nguyen Van Doan, Dr. Ha Van Can, Dr. Nguyen Khanh Trung Kien, and Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Hong Son.

The Congress also elected the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Archaeological Association consisting of 31 members. The Inspection Committee consists of 5 members.
Looking back at the third term (2020-2025), the Vietnam Archaeological Association has completed the state task, specifically the National Science and Technology Fund and the National History Compilation assigned to preside over the compilation of the book Vietnamese History , volume 2, accepted at the national level in 2021. In 2024, the research "Vietnamese History in the Hung Kings' Era of Nation Building" was granted a certificate of registration of results of scientific and technological tasks.

Also in the 3rd term, the Vietnam Archaeological Association has conducted many cooperative or bidding studies. Among these, there are studies related to world cultural heritage. That is: assessing the archaeological value of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son - Kiep Bac relic area. From there, the discovery and clarification of the architectural vestiges of Truc Lam during the Tran Dynasty, greatly increasing the outstanding global value of the Yen Tu relic area. In 2024 - 2025, the Association, together with 2 other units, completed the dossier of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son - Kiep Bac Monument and Landscape Complex to submit to UNESCO for consideration and recognition as a world heritage site.

Regarding the work of preserving relics and archaeology, the Vietnam Archaeological Association has sent 2 members to participate in the Drafting Committee of the 2024 amended and supplemented Law on Cultural Heritage. Members of the Association have provided written comments on the draft law on 18 issues directly related to archaeological work.
Regarding international cooperation, the Vietnam Archaeological Association has a branch of the Institute of Archaeology in collaboration with Canadian experts to excavate the outskirts of the capital Hoa Lu in the area of Ba Ngo Pagoda, and with Australian experts to excavate Nguom stone roof (Thai Nguyen). The branch of the National Museum of History in collaboration with the Korean Institute for Maritime Cultural Heritage Research surveyed traditional boats of Vietnamese ethnic communities in the Central, Central Highlands, and Northwest regions. The branch of the Southern Institute of Social Sciences in collaboration with Japanese experts analyzed the age of 60 samples at many Ba The - Oc Eo relics.
The Archaeological Association has many studies on Oc Eo culture.

In particular, the Vietnam Archaeological Association coordinated with the Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center to write a report on the state of conservation, an impact assessment report and proposed a conservation plan, interpreting the heritage site in a vision for many years to come with the UNESCO interdisciplinary inspection team, the General Director of the World Heritage Center at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel and in Paris. The report was accepted by UNESCO.
