Quang Ninh has more than 250km of coastline, over 6,000km2 of sea surface, and more than 1,000km2 of island area. The province has coastal archipelagos, including Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay, which are natural treasures... Therefore, in recent times, the province has had many solutions to promote the potential and advantages of sea and island tourism in the area.
Since the beginning of 2025, Quang Ninh's sea and island tourism has been bustling with super yachts docking at the port, carrying thousands of international cruise ship visitors. Typically, on the morning of January 17, Ha Long International Cruise Port welcomed two international cruise ships, Seabourn Encore and Silver Whisper, bringing more than 1,200 visitors to experience and explore the nature, land, and people of Quang Ninh.
For many years, sea and island tourism in the province has always attracted tourists to visit and experience. To support the development of sea and island tourism, in 2024, the Provincial People's Council issued a resolution on supporting the development of tourism through Van Don International Airport and cruise tourism to Quang Ninh.
The province's marine tourism development space continues to be expanded into 4 regions, in which Ha Long Bay - Bai Tu Long is the main marine tourism cluster, associated with sea and island tourism products in Van Don, Co To, Mong Cai and connected with a system of attractive tourist areas, routes, destinations and urban areas.
To promote the strengths of sea and island tourism, the province calls for and attracts businesses, organizations and individuals to invest in building a system of hotels and unique, diverse and international resorts. In addition to hotels and resorts in coastal localities, the province also has 2 3-star tourist accommodation ships with 105 rooms, 54 2-star tourist accommodation ships with 1,073 rooms, 29 1-star tourist accommodation ships with 250 rooms, and 12 tourist accommodation ships meeting minimum standards with 91 rooms.
Along with that, the system of passenger ports and wharves to the island routes has been completed synchronously, such as: Ha Long International Passenger Port, Tuan Chau International Passenger Port (Ha Long City), Cai Rong Port, Ao Tien Port (Van Don)... This further contributes to promoting the system of tourist ships in Ha Long Bay, Van Don, Co To to develop more and more towards modernity, safety, high quality, especially the fleet of overnight ships.
In order to attract more and more tourists to the island tourism in the area, the province also focuses on developing tourism products. Among the nearly 70 tourism products put into operation to serve tourists in the province, there are many new island tourism products in Ha Long Bay, Van Don, Co To, Hai Ha, Dam Ha... In mid-2024, Quang Ninh announced sightseeing tours in Ha Long Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay, of which Ha Long Bay has 8 tours, Bai Tu Long Bay has 10 tours and 3 tours connecting Ha Long Bay - Bai Tu Long Bay. This is the orientation for building tourist destinations and island tourism products in the province in the coming time.
Some of the province's tourism products are highly competitive, rich, diverse, symbolic, and distinctive, and have been formed and put into operation, such as the "Night Cruise Street" product for sightseeing along the coast of Ha Long Bay at Ha Long International Passenger Port with a system of high-quality, modern sightseeing boats and restaurants, meeting the needs of domestic and international tourists, and highly appreciated by many tourists.
Ms. Pham Thu Nga (Me Tri Ha area, Nam Tu Liem district, Hanoi) said: My friends and I organized a group to travel to Ha Long city, including a cruise service to see the scenery of Ha Long Bay, listening to music and enjoying the typical cuisine of Quang Ninh. The members of the group and I were very impressed by the organized way; the staff welcomed and served guests on the ship very enthusiastically; the movement on and off the cruise was convenient with a beautiful and modern port system.
The Cruise Night Street is a cultural tourism product that has been put into operation since 2022 at Ha Long International Passenger Port. The Cruise Night Street takes place from 5-11pm every day, gathering nearly 30 4-5 star ships, taking tourists on a cruise to explore the coastal city of Ha Long at night, admire famous landmarks and works, and enjoy unique cultural and artistic spaces right on the ships throughout the journey.
In 2025, Quang Ninh will continue to synchronously and drastically implement solutions to promote the development of tourism and sea and island services, focusing on attracting and developing the cruise tourism market. Diversify forms and tourism products, improve the quality and competitiveness of tourism services, especially high-end resort tourism products, high-quality sea and island tourism, tourism products, night services, onshore and in Ha Long Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay, etc. to make Quang Ninh an attractive destination all year round.
