Chinese Jin Yong fans in Xiangyang light candles to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the novelist's birth.

According to The Paper , in the early morning of March 10, the writer's fan club met at Xiangyang Ancient City, Hubei Province, to light up the relic site. Candles were placed around the wall, forming the number 100 and the phrase "Hiệp chi đại giả" (a phrase from the novel The Return of the Condor Heroes , referring to heroes, righteous people, who fight for justice).

Xiangyang City appears many times in Jin Yong's works. Many audiences said that they immediately thought of wuxia novels when they heard the name of this place. In The Legend of the Condor Heroes , the author mentioned Xiangyang more than 260 times, describing the battles to defend the city. In The Return of the Condor Heroes , Xiangyang is also a key location, holding an important position in the entire novel.

According to Ifeng , the story of Guo Jing and Huang Rong resolutely defending Xiangyang was described vividly, making the place famous both inside and outside China. However, during his lifetime, Jin Yong had not been to Xiangyang. He once said: "I want to go to the place where Guo Xiang was born, but taking the train is inconvenient, so I have not been able to go yet."

On the occasion of the novelist's 100th birthday, many artists such as Lee Dieu Tuong, Liu Yifei, Huang Xiaoming, Liu Tao, and Ngo Khai Hoa recorded videos to commemorate and appreciate the writer's thoughts. On her personal page, Ly Nhuoc Dong said she was lucky to be remembered by the audience through the roles of Tieu Long Nu and Vuong Ngu Yen, and that luck was given to her by Kim Dung.

Ly Nhuoc Dong wrote: "Vuong Ngu Yen and Tieu Long Nu, one is gentle and the other is strong. Thank you to the writer who created those characters. Thanks to each transformation into them, in real life, I bravely seek answers to my questions, from there I have the opportunity to become better."

Kim Dung's novels have great appeal to many generations of Vietnamese readers. In the essay Kim Dung in my life , writer Vu Duc Sao Bien once wrote: "Kim Dung's writing power is very powerful. Each work is a series (usually over 10 volumes, averaging about 500-600 pages per volume). In terms of original work, his works are more massive than any other writer. His writing style is strangely attractive and appealing to readers. And his system of knowledge from medicine to geography, history, martial arts, psychology, pathology, and religion is unparalleled in its completeness."
