The long-legged squad made history for Vietnamese women's volleyball at ASIAD 19

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên05/10/2023

For the first time in history, Vietnamese women's volleyball has won the right to be in the top 4 strongest teams at ASIAD. The success was achieved thanks to possessing a team of talented long legs such as Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh, Lam Oanh, Bich Thuy, Tu Linh,...

The success of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team at ASIAD 19 comes from careful preparation, training, and competition over a long period of time. Among them, the 7 excellent players that coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet often uses are Tran Thi Thanh Thuy , Tran Tu Linh, Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh, Nguyen Thi Trinh, Tran Thi Bich Thuy, Doan Thi Lam Oanh , and Nguyen Khanh Dang .

Tran Thi Thanh Thuy is worthy of being the leader of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team.

INDEPENDENCE

Striker and captain Tran Thi Thanh Thuy is the brightest star of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team. The girl born in 1997, with a "huge" height of 1.93 m, is the number 1 scorer in most matches of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team. In addition to her powerful high-altitude attacks, Thanh Thuy also has effective attacks behind the 3 m line and has very strong and dangerous "live" serves. The hitter is playing for the PFU Bluecats Club (Japan) to participate in the 19th ASIAD at the last minute, after the Vietnam Volleyball Federation worked with and received the approval of the Japanese team. Thanks to Thanh Thuy, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team played "sublimely" with 3 consecutive victories against Nepal, South Korea, and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to advance straight to the semi-finals and have the right to "dream" of a medal.

Setter Lam Oanh is the soul of Vietnamese women's volleyball

INDEPENDENCE

If Tran Thi Thanh Thuy is the number 1 hitter, then setter Doan Thi Lam Oanh is the soul of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team. The girl born in 1998, with a height of 1.77 m, plays a role in creating most of the Vietnamese team's attacks. She understands the strengths of each of her team's hitters to pass the ball "just right" for her teammates to "score" from many different attacks. In addition, Lam Oanh also supports the block and thanks to her quickness, she also has unexpected scoring moves.

Opposite player Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh is both talented and beautiful.

INDEPENDENCE

The 22-year-old beauty queen Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh is a notable factor of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team as she has improved through each tournament and has been trusted by coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet to play the main opposite position. The Quang Binh hitter often scores points with her diving shots or her surprising combination shots. However, this 1.77 m tall young hitter needs to train more on her physical strength and power to become more complete.

Tran Thi Bich Thuy performs well with quick one-legged jumps.

INDEPENDENCE

Hanoi-born middle blocker Tran Thi Bich Thuy, born in 2000, is 1.84 m tall with a "cold" face but has explosive moments in competition. She is playing very well at ASIAD 19 with effective one-legged jumps, scoring consecutive points for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team. This middle blocker helps reduce the scoring pressure for Tran Thi Thanh Thuy in the two important matches against South Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. If she continues to effectively promote her strengths, Bich Thuy promises to be a striker capable of causing "high damage" to strong opponents in the semi-finals. However, Bich Thuy's attacks also need to be more varied, avoiding being caught by opponents.

Striker Tran Tu Linh with powerful high-range shots

INDEPENDENCE

Striker Tran Tu Linh, born in 1999 in Ha Tinh, is 1.80 m tall and shares the scoring responsibility with Tran Thi Thanh Thuy. With good jumping ability, Tu Linh impresses with high shots on the block. She also supports the defense quite well. However, Tu Linh still lacks confidence, so sometimes she hits the ball regrettably and needs to overcome it soon to improve.

Nguyen Thi Trinh (15) is a fast and effective striker.

INDEPENDENCE

Middle blocker Nguyen Thi Trinh, born in 1997 in Dak Lak, is 1.81 m tall. She is a fast striker and a good attacking player for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team. In addition, Nguyen Thi Trinh also supports the defense, serving as a launching pad for the two main attackers Thanh Thuy and Tu Linh.

Libero Nguyen Khanh Dang (yellow shirt) played hard, saving many times for the Vietnamese team.

INDEPENDENCE

Playing in the libero position, it is not surprising that the girl born in 2000 from Binh Dien Long An Club , Nguyen Khanh Dang, is only 1.58 m tall. However, with quick reflexes, high concentration and fiery fighting spirit, Khanh Dang has made spectacular saves to help the Vietnamese women's volleyball team change the game. The spirit of fighting and giving everything in every play of this libero helps his teammates to be more determined.

In addition, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team also has Vo Thi Kim Thoa, Pham Thi Nguyet Anh, Doan Thi Xuan, Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, and Ly Thi Luyen ready to take on the responsibility when coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet puts them on the field.

Vietnam's female volleyball players are ready for the semi-finals of ASIAD 19

INDEPENDENCE

At 6 p.m. today, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will face host China to compete for first and second place in the second qualifying round (Group E). Facing a strong opponent in a match that is purely a formality, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet said that the Vietnamese team will not go all out but will rotate the squad to help the Vietnamese players maintain a good mental state before entering the semi-finals (against Thailand or Japan).
