
Mr. Ta Tu Binh - Vice Chairman of Ngu Hanh Son District People's Committee said that the 2024 Ngu Hanh Son Quan The Am Festival will be held on a larger scale than every year, worthy of being a city-level festival and worthy of the title of National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The opening ceremony takes place at 5:30 p.m. on March 26 (February 17 of the lunar calendar); the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara's birthday ceremony (official ceremony) is at 7 a.m. on March 28 (February 19 of the lunar calendar); in addition, there will be an incense offering ceremony in memory of Princess Huyen Tran, a spring worship ceremony to pray for national peace and prosperity...
The festival has many new features such as: Boat racing on Co Co River with historical scenes reenacted on the river; drawing contest about Quan The Am Festival; writing contest about Van Hanh Library; Olympic run for peace and many religious activities and folk games.
In addition, there will be a discussion on promoting the value of the Quan The Am Festival and cultural heritages in the Ngu Hanh Son National Monument Complex. Booths will be organized to display and demonstrate Non Nuoc stone carving; OCOP booths will introduce typical products of Da Nang City.
Throughout the festival are unique cultural and artistic activities such as: Art program to welcome the festival on 2 nights of March 27 & 28; art performances by Japanese and Thai troupes; singing and dancing; photo exhibition of Ngu Hanh Son landscape and Ngu Hanh Son ghosts; exhibition of fine arts, paintings, calligraphy; lantern festival, campfire; Vietnamese vegetarian cuisine space...
The Ngu Hanh Son Quan The Am Festival is one of the folk festivals imbued with the religious beliefs of Buddhism, a unique community cultural activity, as well as demonstrating the local efforts in restoring and preserving the good traditional values of the nation.
In 2000, the Ngu Hanh Son Quan The Am Festival was listed by the General Department of Tourism as one of the 15 major festivals in the country. In 2021, the festival was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage. From 2023, the festival will be hosted by the People's Committee of Da Nang City on a city-level scale.
