Da Nang: 2,580 billion VND to reserve goods for the Lunar New Year 2024

Abundant goods, total goods reserved for Tet estimated at 2,580 billion VND

Ms. Le Thi Kim Phuong - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Da Nang City said that in order to ensure the balance of supply and demand of goods, to meet the needs of people during the holidays, the last months of 2023, New Year, Lunar New Year 2024, especially essential goods, the department has worked with suppliers and retailers in the city to reserve goods to serve the people.

Products for the Lunar New Year 2024 have been on the shelves of supermarkets in Da Nang City.

This year, businesses have prepared reserves of goods, but not much higher than last year, and have launched a number of promotional and discount programs; the total value of reserves of food and foodstuffs for Tet is expected to be about VND2,580 billion.

Of which, key enterprises supplying livestock, poultry, food; trade centers, supermarkets with reserve value of nearly 1,015 billion VND; traders in markets participating in reserve with an estimated value of about 750 billion VND; Grocery stores in residential areas, specialized streets participating in reserve with an estimated value of over 815 billion VND.

The main reserve items are rice of all kinds; meat of all kinds; processed and canned foods; dried foods; candies, jams, melon seeds; vegetables and fruits of all kinds.

Mr. Le Quang Thanh - Deputy Director of Coopmart Da Nang Supermarket said that, contributing to stabilizing market prices during the peak of the Lunar New Year 2024, the Saigon Coop supermarket system has stockpiled goods up to 10,000 billion VND, an increase of 20 - 50% depending on the product group.

At Coopmart Da Nang supermarket, priority will be given to stocking goods such as: Rice, sugar, cooking oil, pork, poultry, poultry eggs, processed foods, vegetables, seafood, etc. The rest will be reserved for other food and non-food items and Tet specialties.

Purchasing power at traditional markets in 2023 and up to now is still very quiet.

At the markets, it is noted that at the present time, the market is very quiet. "This year, purchasing power at traditional markets has decreased sharply, so traders are also looking forward to the Tet goods season" , said Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh - Hong Lua Grocery (specializing in food technology products, Dong Da market, Da Nang city) and informed that the unit is currently participating in promotional sales to stimulate consumption. "We also have a plan to prepare Tet goods but not much. The current source of goods is very abundant, so if purchasing power increases, we can mobilize goods in time to supply. Regarding prices, all items currently have stable prices, no item shows signs of price increase" , said Ms. Hanh.

Demand for gasoline in the city is expected to increase by 20%, so gasoline distribution and supply units have also made plans to ensure sufficient gasoline supply to serve people's needs.

Many stimulus programs ensure price stability of essential goods

To serve the increasing year-end consumer demand and create excitement for the Da Nang retail market, many trade promotion and stimulus programs will continue to be organized.

Notably, the Da Nang Spring Fair 2024 will take place from January 23, 2024 to January 28, 2024 (13th to 18th of December, Quy Mao year); with a scale of about 250 booths including items such as confectionery, jam, fashion garments, shoes, handicrafts, electronics, household appliances... Some other fairs and festivals such as: Da Nang "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" Exhibition Fair 2023 from December 25, 2023 to December 31, 2023 organized by Thanh Khe district; Vietnamese Tet Festival 2024 from January 26, 2024 to January 28, 2024 organized by Hoa Vang district...

In parallel, many sales programs to stabilize the market during the Lunar New Year 2024 will also be held.

In particular, supermarkets such as: Go! Da Nang; Coopmart Da Nang; Lotte Mart Da Nang, MM Mega Market... registered to organize price stabilization points of sale at their business locations with reasonable prices, ensuring quality, food safety and hygiene...; at the same time, increase the organization of promotional programs, stimulate consumption, contributing to stabilizing the market during Tet. Price stabilization items include necessities, food, Tet confectionery, household appliances, clothes...

Da Nang City will continue to organize the program of selling pork at stable prices on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2024.

“We expect purchasing power and the number of customers in the weeks before Tet to increase by 20-30% compared to normal months, and on the days before Tet, purchasing power will increase by 50% compared to normal days,” said a representative of Coopmart Da Nang, adding that the above essential items will be stocked and supplied to consumers at stable prices and guaranteed quality.

MM Mega Market representative said that during the peak period to serve consumer demand at the end of 2023 and the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin in 2024, the unit will implement a program to purchase stable and smart savings with more than 500 essential items.

This year, Da Nang city continues to organize a price stabilization program for livestock and poultry products (mainly pork and processed pork products, chicken eggs). The program is expected to take place for 3 days (from February 6-8, 2024, on December 27-29, Quy Mao year) with 19 price stabilization pork sales points in districts.

In addition, the Department of Industry and Trade of Da Nang will also organize 3 rounds of bringing price-stabilized goods to serve the shopping needs of people in mountainous communes of Hoa Vang district (Hoa Bac, Hoa Ninh, Hoa Phu communes).
