In 2021, Toan Cau Agricultural and Forestry Processing Factory in Lao Bao town started producing dried banana products using modern technology with an investment of nearly 800 million VND. Because the bananas are dried using modern technology and are completely natural, without using preservatives, the products ensure quality and safety for consumers.

In 2022, the factory's dried bananas were recognized as a 3-star OCOP product at the provincial level. In October 2023, the factory continued to launch a new product, green banana powder, made from 100% natural green bananas. The product is sold by the factory in two forms: canned and packaged. The current retail price is 200,000 VND/box and 100,000 VND/500 gram package.

After processing banana products, the remaining banana peels are used by the factory as organic fertilizer for plants. The entire processing system operates in a circular process, contributing to environmental protection. The factory's dried banana and green banana powder products are present in major events of the homeland such as: fairs, highland markets of Huong Hoa district; walking streets in Lao Bao town...

Director of Global Agricultural and Forestry Processing Factory Truong Thi Nhung shared: “Taking advantage of available potential combined with the desire to create many products from banana, we invested in modern technological lines and implemented clean agricultural production processes.

Thereby, contributing to solving product output for farmers, creating jobs for many local people, the factory alone has 30 workers. Hopefully in the future, our products will always be known and trusted by customers everywhere."

Two years ago, Ms. Mai Thi Thanh Huyen, owner of Anh Duong Clean Agricultural Products Production Facility in Lao Bao town, had the idea of doing business with crispy dried bananas, so she invested in a modern production line worth nearly 500 million VND.

Through product promotion on social networking sites, after nearly 1 year of operation, the facility's products have been widely sold in and outside the locality, contributing to creating jobs for 5 workers.

Mr. Tran Phuoc Cuong, Vice Chairman of Lao Bao Town People's Committee said: "Currently, the town has 3 products processed from bananas, which are dried bananas, green banana powder and crispy dried bananas. In the coming time, the town will continue to pay attention and create conditions for products to affirm their brands and reputation such as registering for product protection, displaying products in events, fairs, and walking streets; having appropriate support policies for businesses and production facilities to further develop in terms of scale and product quality."

Not only in Lao Bao town, since 2017, Tran Thi Hoai Nhung and her husband, An Tiem village, Tan Thanh commune, have borrowed capital from the bank to build a banana drying facility under the Chanh Nhung brand and become the pioneer women making dried bananas in Quang Tri.

Currently, Chanh Nhung dried bananas are recognized as a 3-star OCOP product at the provincial level. To supply the market in time, Ms. Nhung expanded the production scale, invested in more banana dryers, and sold bananas to farmers in the area.

According to the survey, up to now, the banana growing area of Huong Hoa district is 3,048 hectares, of which 2,916.3 hectares are harvested with an estimated output of 42,053.2 tons/year, concentrated in the communes of Lia, Tan Long, Tan Thanh, Lao Bao town and a part of the area is rented by local people to grow in Laos.

To solve the large output of bananas, the district has had many solutions such as granting 9 codes for growing areas on banana trees (exporting to the Chinese market); encouraging and supporting businesses to invest in planting and processing products from banana trees... The People's Council of Huong Hoa district has also issued a resolution approving the investment policy for the banana market project in Tan Long commune with a total investment of 11 billion VND; implementation period from 2024 - 2026.

In recent years, a number of enterprises in the district have invested in growing and processing bananas such as: Green Globe Company Limited, Chanh Nhung Vacuum Banana Processing Facility, Long Viet Food Production Company Limited... with a total consumption and processing output of bananas of about 20,100 tons/year. Products processed from moldy honey bananas are increasingly diverse but still ensure nutrition, deliciousness, and good for health, so they are trusted by many people.

The expansion of production and diversification of products from bananas by business owners and production facilities in Huong Hoa has contributed to increasing the value of bananas and helping to maintain the banana growing area. At the same time, it helps farmers feel secure in production, contributing to environmental protection and new rural development.
