On December 20, news from Thanh Vu Medic Bac Lieu General Hospital said that the hospital's doctors had just promptly treated a male patient with acute cerebral infarction, accompanied by many other diseases.
Previously, patient NTP (56 years old, residing in Thanh Tri district, Soc Trang) was hospitalized with slurred speech and hemiplegia. After taking the patient's medical history and conducting tests, the doctor ordered an MRI of the brain without injecting contrast agents. The results showed that the patient had an acute cerebral infarction in the left auricle, along with many underlying diseases, such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, pneumonia, heart valve disease, and stenosis of the aorta.

The medical team initiated the treatment process for the patient using intravenous thrombolytic drugs. This helps restore blood circulation, providing blood to brain cells in the ischemic area. After 2 days of drug infusion, the patient's health improved, he could walk, eat, and talk normally.
Doctor Thach Minh Hien, Emergency Department, Thanh Vu Medic Bac Lieu General Hospital, said that thrombolytic treatment has the advantage of helping to re-open the patient's blood vessels, especially in cases of acute ischemic stroke, not due to blockage of large cerebral arteries, within the golden period, from 4 to 5 hours, from the onset of symptoms.
Doctor Hien recommends that in cases with typical symptoms of acute stroke, relatives should take the patient to the nearest medical facility for treatment as soon as possible.
