According to information from Thu Duc City Hospital, a Nigerian (36 years old, living in Thu Duc City) suffered a tibial plateau fracture while playing soccer.
After that, this person went to many medical facilities and sports medicine specialists for treatment but it was not cured.
Three weeks after the injury, the patient went to Thu Duc City Hospital for examination and was diagnosed with a Schatzker III lateral tibial plateau fracture and advised on a surgical plan.
Doctor Nguyen Duy Tai said this was a difficult surgery because the patient had a depressed fracture of the tibial plateau, the joint surface was very displaced. The patient came to the hospital late, 3 weeks after the fracture, there was a lot of fibrous tissue in the joint, the fracture site had begun to form calcifications, making the broken pieces stick together.
Accordingly, the surgical team had to chisel out the cal part to lift the broken piece and the tibial plateau joint surface. After lifting, the doctors continued to graft the patient's autologous bone to fill the defect.
