75 years ago, in response to the requirements and tasks of the resistance war against French colonialism and the building of the Army; to strengthen Party and political work for the General Staff. On June 8, 1948, in Ke Tam hamlet, Diem Mac commune (Dinh Hoa), Chief of the General Staff Hoang Van Thai decided to establish the General Staff Political Work Committee (the predecessor of the General Staff Political Department of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army today).

During the process of building, fighting and growing, the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Diem Mac commune have protected and helped the Political Work Department of the General Staff to successfully complete its assigned tasks. The program of Marching to the source in Diem Mac commune is one of the practical activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Political Department of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army (June 8, 1948 / June 8, 2023).

To implement the program, the Political Department of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army coordinated with the locality to organize the inauguration ceremony and hand over 2 Great Unity houses to 2 families: Mrs. La Thi Tu and Mr. Tran Van Nguyen. On this occasion, the Political Department of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army also presented gifts to 20 families with meritorious services; 75 poor students who overcame difficulties and studied well at Hoang Ngan Secondary School, Diem Mac commune; the "Repaying gratitude" fund of Diem Mac commune... with a total value of 65 million VND.

Major General Chu Van Doan said: Implementing the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" and the movements: "The army joins hands to build new rural areas", "The whole country joins hands for the poor - no one is left behind", the Political Department of the General Department of the Vietnam People's Army has directed and guided agencies and units to effectively implement the activities of "Repaying gratitude", "For the poor", supporting the construction of new rural areas in localities across the country. Through the movements, the General Department of the Vietnam People's Army has supported the construction of 500 gratitude houses, comrade houses, and great solidarity houses for policy beneficiaries and poor households in terms of housing, regularly providing care for 38 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers; supporting localities in developing infrastructure, building cultural houses, schools, and roads; visiting and presenting gifts to nursing centers for wounded soldiers, policy beneficiaries, and people with meritorious services to the revolution... with a total cost of tens of billions of VND.

Speaking at the ceremony to present the Great Unity House, comrade Ma Khac Phi, Secretary of the Party Committee of Diem Mac commune, shared: Currently, Diem Mac has 26 historical relic sites (including 7 national relic sites). Previously, Diem Mac was one of the poor communes of Dinh Hoa district, people's lives still faced many difficulties. However, with the attention of the Party and the State, especially the support of central agencies with relic sites in the commune, they have joined hands to support materially and spiritually, accompanying the ethnic people of Diem Mac to implement the National target program on new rural construction. In 2022, Diem Mac has met the new rural standards.

Previously, delegates from the Political Department, General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army offered incense at the Memorial House of President Ho Chi Minh in Phu Dinh Commune, Dinh Hoa District (Thai Nguyen) and visited the Monument of the Political Department, General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army in Diem Mac Commune.
