Voters in Ninh Kieu district propose to speed up the construction progress of key projects and overcome environmental pollution.

(CT) - On August 3, 2023, delegates of the Can Tho City People's Council, including: Mr. Pham Van Hieu, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Council; Mr. Tran Van Duong, Deputy Director of the City Police; Ms. Do Thi Tuyet Nhung, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Can Tho University of Technology and Engineering; Mr. Thieu Quang Than, Deputy Head of the Economic - Budget Committee of the City People's Council, and delegates of the Ninh Kieu District People's Council met with voters of the wards: Hung Loi, An Binh, Tan An, Xuan Khanh and An Phu, Ninh Kieu District after the mid-year meeting of the 2023 City People's Council.

Mr. Pham Van Hieu, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Can Tho City spoke at the meeting with voters in Hung Loi ward, Ninh Kieu district.

At the contact points, the People's Council delegates at two levels reported on the results of the 2023 mid-year session of the City People's Council and the results of the 7th session of the Ninh Kieu District People's Council as well as announced the results of handling voters' opinions and recommendations. Voters highly appreciated the leadership and management of the city and the district in the past time; at the same time, they made many practical recommendations, such as the situation of flooding in alleys, canals, and ditches causing environmental pollution leading to dengue fever outbreaks, affecting people's lives and activities; the situation of construction of drainage system upgrade projects in Ninh Kieu District but not covering them safely during construction. Can Tho City leaders need to have strong solutions for contractors who do not have enough capacity to carry out traffic projects in Ninh Kieu District; the situation of buying and selling, parking vehicles encroaching on the roadside, sidewalk and alleys causing traffic congestion; The issue of slow land use rights for people in residential areas. Voters proposed to speed up the implementation of key projects of the city, including the Can Tho river embankment project, the Oncology Hospital, bus stops, pick-up and drop-off stations; the management of public houses and land and upgrading sidewalks in the district... Voters of Tan An ward also proposed to repair the steps of the Can Tho Museum, creating conditions for the elderly and children to visit the images and valuable artifacts displayed at the Museum... to enhance the education of the city's historical traditions for the younger generation. Voters also expressed concerns about the issue of schools serving high-quality training for students; the issue of infrastructure connection between Ninh Kieu wharf and Cai Khe area; the issue of medicine and equipment serving medical examination and treatment for people is stable, but there is still a shortage of blood to save lives; proposed to increase the subsidy level for those participating in activities of special associations.

At the meeting with voters, after listening to the leaders of the city's functional departments, Ninh Kieu district explained and clarified some of the voters' recommendations. Speaking at the conference, Mr. Pham Van Hieu, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Can Tho City, informed voters about the city's economic development situation and the work of ensuring social security. At the same time, he acknowledged and directed relevant departments and branches to receive and promptly resolve voters' opinions and recommendations.
