HAGL Club recruits Neymar's former teammate to upgrade defense

After signing foreign player Joao Mario Nunes Fernandes (Guinea-Bissau) to improve the attack, HAGL brought in another foreign player to strengthen the defense.

The chosen name is center back Jairo Rodrigues Peixoto Filho, who played alongside famous star Neymar Jr when they both played for the youth team of Santos Club (Brazil).

Center back Jairo is not a strange name in V-League. Last season, the foreign player born in 1992 played for Khanh Hoa Club, played 14 matches in V-League and scored 3 goals.

Jairo is highly regarded for his ability to command the defense, compete and score goals in high-flying situations. Coach Kiatisak Senamuang is looking forward to Jairo's appearance to help HAGL defend more firmly. With the contract named Jairo, HAGL will likely say goodbye to Pape Diakite, a foreign player who is also playing in the center-back position.

Jairo has a wealth of experience, having played for many teams in different countries. The player born in 1992 grew up in the youth academy of Goias Club (Brazil), then was selected by Santos Club to join the U.20 team, playing alongside Neymar for 2 years (2009 - 2010).

However, Jairo was not selected for the first team like Neymar, but instead began his "adventure" journey to many clubs across South America, Europe and Asia. Jairo played football in Brazil, Portugal, Azerbaijan, Iran, Japan, India...

Although he did not leave a strong impression on any team, Jairo has the ability to adapt well. This is the foundation for HAGL to rebuild the defense line, which has been unstable due to personnel changes in recent seasons.

HAGL did not play successfully in V-League 2023 when falling into the relegation group. Therefore, Coach Kiatisak's students are looking forward to the 2023 - 2024 season with better results.
