This afternoon, January 15, at the Headquarters of the Naval Region 5 Command, a delegation of southern provinces, businesses and press agencies visited, wished a happy new year and presented gifts to officers and soldiers of the Naval Region 5 Command on the occasion of the Spring of Giap Thin 2024.

Naval Region 5 has the task of closely coordinating with local forces to act as the core in managing and firmly protecting the sovereignty of the Southwestern sea and islands of the Fatherland. Strictly maintain combat-ready forces and means, manage the sea area; proactively advise and promptly and effectively handle situations in accordance with policies; do well in defense diplomacy, joint patrols; search and rescue at sea, help people prevent and overcome the consequences of natural disasters; build a revolutionary area, a regular, elite, modern force.
Some notable results include the fact that Navy Region 5 mobilized soldiers to pull fishermen's cages out of stranded areas, move property, reinforce houses, and build coastal embankments to help people during storm No. 3.
The unit participated in extinguishing house fires, rescuing fishermen in distress in the Southwest sea; giving gifts and rice to support poor households and families with meritorious services; building comrade houses for soldiers in the unit with difficult circumstances, and sponsoring fishermen's children. Organizing propaganda to protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands to tens of thousands of people.

In particular, Naval Region 5 regularly maintains a hotline and successfully completes joint patrol missions with the Royal Thai and Cambodian Navies, contributing to maintaining security and order and a peaceful and stable environment in the Southwest sea.
In 2023, the Naval Region 5 Command was awarded the Emulation Flag and many Certificates of Merit for other achievements by the Naval Command.
