Strengthening solidarity
Tanh Linh has 15 ethnic minorities, including: Cham, Raglai, Cho ro, K'ho, Dao, Chau Ma, H'Mong, Ede, Hoa, Khmer, Muong, Nung, Tay, Thai, Tho with nearly 3,700 households/14,200 people, accounting for about 14% of the district's population. Ethnic minorities live widely throughout the district, concentrated in La Ngau commune (Thuan commune), Mang To, Duc Binh, Duc Thuan, Gia Huynh, Suoi Kiet, Duc Phu and Lac Tanh town.
Identifying the work of exchanging and establishing friendship with ethnic minorities in communes, villages, hamlets and neighborhoods in ethnic minority areas as one of the important political tasks, over the past 10 years, 27 agencies, units, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and socio-political organizations of the district have developed programs and plans to implement specific annual friendship work to help communes and villages of ethnic minorities. Through this, it not only contributes to strengthening solidarity between district-level agencies and units with the grassroots and between cadres, civil servants and public employees with ethnic minorities, but also helps people raise awareness, change their way of thinking, working, production practices, preserve national identity, build cultural and spiritual life and develop local socio-economy, improve the appearance of rural mountainous areas.
Tanh Linh District People's Committee said that in order for twinning activities to become more meaningful and practical, the district's specialized departments always maintain the work of inspecting, urging the implementation, organizing preliminary summaries, evaluating the exchange and twinning work through meetings, working sessions integrated into the socio-economic development plans of agencies and units and consider this a key and regular task. Over the past 10 years, the district has coordinated with agencies and units to send 22 cadres and civil servants (4 at district level, 18 at commune level) who are ethnic minorities to participate in training and fostering classes on state management, political theory, leadership and management, and fostering security and order. At the same time, timely support for corrugated iron roofs for poor households affected by storms in La Ngau commune; organize visits and give over 2,000 gifts/600 million VND on the occasion of traditional holidays and New Year of the nation. The District Health Center organized free medical examination and treatment for about 300 women and children in the twinned unit of Dong Me village, Duc Thuan commune and ethnic minority neighborhoods in Lac Tanh town.
In addition, mobilize resources to carry out 12 projects and tasks with a total cost of about 120 million VND such as: Cleaning village roads and alleys, installing security lighting, mobilizing to build 70m of rural roads in village 2, Suoi Kiet commune; concreting the village cultural house yard, toilets, and fences. Coordinate with specialized sectors such as Justice, Ethnic Affairs, the Provincial Legal Aid Center to propagate the Law on Military Service, the Law on National Defense; the Law on Cyber Security, the Law on Religious Beliefs, the Law on Gender Equality, the Law on Domestic Violence Prevention, the Law on Traffic Safety; the harmful effects of drug use in La Ngau commune and interspersed villages with more than 1,000 young people participating. In addition, coordinate to participate in activities and exchange with volunteer youth groups from the city. Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces have contributed to raising awareness and trust of ethnic minorities in the Party's leadership, not allowing bad guys to take advantage of inciting and causing division in national solidarity.
Focus on developing ethnic minority areas
Tanh Linh District People's Committee affirmed that after 10 years (2013 - 2023) of implementing the exchange and twinning work with pure communes and villages with ethnic minorities in the district, it has proven to be a correct, effective and suitable policy for the actual situation. With this policy, from the leadership and direction of the locality; the initiative and responsibility of the sectors in coordinating with the Party Committee, the government, village elders, prestigious people at the grassroots level, together with the joint efforts of benefactors and philanthropists, etc., the relationship, the spirit of solidarity and assistance between localities and agencies and units have been raised, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life in the twinning areas.
Promoting the achieved results, on the basis of identifying ethnic work as an important task, in the coming time, Tanh Linh will continue to widely implement twinning work to connect the political system to ethnic work, improve the effectiveness of twinning work between agencies, units with pure communes and villages with ethnic minorities. Tanh Linh also sets out the requirement to improve the effectiveness of programs, projects and policies implemented in ethnic minority areas. In particular, focusing on promoting socio-economic development, sustainable poverty reduction, improving living standards, ensuring social security, building new rural areas; maintaining political security, social order and safety in ethnic minority areas.
At the same time, the District People's Committee also requested relevant units and localities to continue to research and clearly identify the conditions and strengths of crops and livestock suitable for each locality to propagate, mobilize and guide people to implement in conjunction with developing the commodity market and product consumption. Continue to innovate the content and methods of implementing mass mobilization work and strengthen inspection, supervision, social criticism, and direct dialogue with people in ethnic minority areas. Promote the role of prestigious people, key people, village elders, village chiefs, intellectuals, and dignitaries in propagating and mobilizing people to well implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, and compete in labor production.
