According to Tuoi Tre Online , as March 8 (International Women's Day) approaches, the number of orders at flower shops in Hanoi increases rapidly. Many places have to recruit more seasonal flower bouquet staff and shippers.
Flower shop 'red eyes' looking for shipper
With the increasing demand for handmade wool flowers, Mr. Phung Quang Huy - owner of Len Handmade shop - recruited 10 more seasonal employees, mainly students, working from mid-February until the end of International Women's Day, with a salary of about 25,000 VND/hour.
The job is to prepare flower wrapping paper and assist with knitting, with pay received after the shift. In addition to the shop staff, young people who make flowers at home are also hired seasonally with a salary of nearly 3 million VND/month.
Since March 6, the number of orders at this store has doubled compared to the same period in 2024, with many orders from fast food companies, travel agencies, etc.
According to Ms. Tram - owner of Florii flower shop, the shop usually recruits seasonal employees about 1 week before International Women's Day to meet orders. Salary is from 25,000-30,000 VND/hour with meals provided if working a shift of 6 hours or more. "Experienced workers are in charge of flower arrangements, designing models according to requests. Assistant workers only need to know the skills to close orders, advise and take care of customers during and after the ceremony," said Ms. Tram.
In addition to hiring florists, shop owners also hire seasonal delivery people instead of ordering through delivery apps, because shippers must know how to preserve fresh flowers. Usually, applicants must provide identification, deposit a certain amount to "secure" the flower shop, and install an application to track the shipping process.
Shipper's salary ranges from 400,000-500,000 VND/day depending on the number of orders, not including customer tips.
Ms. Luu Thi Hong Minh - a recruiter at Orchid Farm store - shared: "We calculate the salary for shippers based on the distance traveled and the size of the product. Because fresh flowers are of great value and it is peak season, shippers are trained in preservation skills, ensuring that the flowers reach customers still fresh and of the right quality," she said.
Despite the good income, Ms. Minh said it is still difficult to recruit employees, especially shippers, because stores are increasing their recruitment.

Edible flowers attract customers
This year, "edible" bouquets like strawberry flowers are also attracting love from foodies.
Ms. Nguyen Kim Phuong (Nam Tu Liem, Hanoi) said she had received more than 100 orders for strawberry flowers before March 8. According to her, the secret to having a beautiful bunch of strawberries is that the strawberries must be bright red, evenly colored, plump, picked just ripe enough to still look beautiful when they reach the customer. Each bunch has 16-35 fruits, the bigger the fruit, the more expensive, priced from several hundred to several million VND.
Busy making a Baby Three flower box, Ms. Huong Thao (Ba Dinh, Hanoi) shared that the most expensive bouquet costs up to nearly 3 million VND/set, the cheapest is 500,000 VND/set, depending on the size and rarity of the doll.
"Mainly, men order flower doll boxes for their lovers because of their unique, sophisticated, trendy designs, high durability and the ability to choose exactly the type of bear they want," she said.
Ordering flowers combined with Baby Three dolls since March 5, Mr. Le Minh Hoang (Hoan Kiem, Hanoi) shared that Baby Three flowers are not only beautiful but also have collectible value and last longer than fresh flowers.
"My bouquet costs about 1 million VND. But compared to imported roses or other expensive gift sets, I think this price is not too high because it is unique, cute, and lasts a long time," said Mr. Hoang.

According to a survey in Hanoi on the afternoon of March 7, flower prices are increasing, for example, a basket of 7 roses increased from 180,000 VND to 220,000 VND. Many flower shops do not accept bouquets under 200,000 VND, except in cases of pre-order.
The flower market has seen a trend of desert roses and tulips. A pot of tulips costs from 25,000 to 30,000 VND/plant, while desert roses range from 70,000 to 90,000 VND/plant.
Note minimum hourly wage
