On the afternoon of June 4, at a meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue asked the Australian Government and Prime Minister to pay attention to and support the relationship between Australian states and Vietnamese localities, especially between Victoria state and Ho Chi Minh City.

Welcoming the important visit of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1973-2023), National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue believes that the visit will be a great success, contributing to consolidating and strengthening the strategic partnership, towards upgrading the relationship to a new height in the coming time.

At the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and Australian Prime Minister agreed that the potential and room for enhancing cooperation between the two countries is still very large. Based on free trade agreements, the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP)... the two countries can increase cooperation in trade and investment. In particular, along with maintaining existing supply chains, the two countries can cooperate and create new supply chains to diversify each other's markets.

The National Assembly Chairman suggested that the Australian Government and Prime Minister pay attention to and support the relationship between Australian states and Vietnamese localities, especially between Victoria state and Ho Chi Minh City. At the same time , he said that at the 5th session, the Vietnamese National Assembly is considering and is expected to pass a Resolution on piloting a number of special mechanisms and policies for the development of Ho Chi Minh City, with policies that have no precedent in Vietnam. The National Assembly Chairman assessed that this is an opportunity for Ho Chi Minh City to strengthen relations with foreign partners, including Australia.

The National Assembly Chairman said that next September, the Vietnamese National Assembly will host the 9th Global Young Parliamentarians Conference; he respectfully invited the Australian Senate and House of Representatives to send a delegation to Vietnam to attend, contributing to the overall success of the conference. On this occasion, the National Assembly Chairman respectfully invited the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives to visit Vietnam soon.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese highly appreciated ASEAN's central role in the region, and said that the relationship between the two countries will develop even stronger in the future as bilateral trade turnover in 2022 increased by 30% compared to 2021; reflecting the dynamism of economic cooperation between the two countries.
The Australian Prime Minister affirmed that he will promote the sending of an Australian parliamentary delegation to attend the 9th Global Young Parliamentarians Conference in Vietnam. Sharing his good feelings about Vietnam, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese affirmed that during his term of office, he will contribute to further strengthening the cooperative relationship between the two countries in all fields.
