Workers are advised not to register or pay money to any individual or organization without going through an official process.

According to the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, on March 1, 2024, Vietnam and Australia signed a memorandum of understanding on supporting Vietnamese citizens to work in the agricultural sector under the PALM program (The Pacific Australia Labor Mobility).

According to the agreed plan, Australia plans to receive 1,000 Vietnamese workers in the agricultural sector this year. Workers will receive free training before leaving the country. The basic salary (excluding living expenses) is around 3,200 - 4,000 AUD/month (equivalent to about 52.8 - 66 million VND/month).

Vietnam is one of four countries that the Australian Government has given priority to join the PALM Program early, along with Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines. The program aims to offset the labor shortage in the agricultural sector in Australia, as well as create opportunities for Vietnamese workers to accumulate knowledge, experience, skills and income.

The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs is currently working with the Australian Embassy in Vietnam to select up to 6 businesses to participate in sending Vietnamese workers to Australia to work. These units will be responsible for supporting and providing information about the program, guiding visa application procedures and organizing free training courses for workers before departure. The list of businesses has not yet been announced.

However, recently, some individuals and organizations have taken advantage of information about the PALM program to defraud and illegally collect money from workers, causing risks of insecurity and disorder in some localities. In response to this situation, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has sent an official dispatch to provinces and cities, requesting coordination to prevent and warn workers.

Workers who want to go to Australia to work under the above program need to follow the official announcement from the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to avoid being lured, scammed and having their property appropriated; absolutely do not register or pay money to any individual or organization without going through the official process.
