In reality, each individual has his or her own unique abilities. Therefore, one of the important tasks of education is to discover early the talents and strengths of each student in various fields, on that basis, there are appropriate ways of education, training and nurturing, associated with career orientation for students in accordance with their abilities and living conditions in the future.

According to the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, in the 2023-2024 school year, the province will have about 759 kindergartens and primary schools with about 410,300 students. Of which, kindergartens have 81,100 children, primary schools have 172,000 students, middle schools have 108,200 students and high schools have 49,000 students.

The rate of mobilizing school-age children to attend kindergarten reached 93.0%, primary school reached 99.9%, middle school reached 94.7% and high school reached 58.1%. The number of schools in Gia Lai province meeting national standards is 449/761 schools, reaching 59.0%.

In preparation for the new school year, the Gia Lai province Department of Education and Training has invested more than 372.8 billion VND to build and repair facilities and more than 780.7 billion VND to purchase teaching equipment.

Mr. Vo Thanh Nguyen, Principal of Gia Lai Province Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, said that in the 2023-2024 school year, the school has 400 students, most of whom are Jrai and Ba Na. Over the past 12 consecutive years, the school has maintained its achievements with 100% of students passing the high school graduation exam. Every year, the school always has a team participating in the provincial exam to select excellent 12th grade students.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, President Vo Van Thuong praised and congratulated the achievements of Gia Lai Ethnic Boarding School in recent years. The school's achievements in recent years have contributed positively to the education and training of Gia Lai province, affirming the model of specialized public schools in the national education system for ethnic minority youth.

According to the President, the establishment of a system of ethnic boarding schools in particular and the emphasis on education for ethnic minorities in general is a creative policy, demonstrating the strategic thinking and great concern of the Party and State for the children of ethnic minorities, with the goal of creating a source of qualified cadres and human resources for ethnic minority and mountainous areas. Good implementation of this policy will create a solid foundation to contribute to caring for ethnic minorities, a way to escape poverty, build a contingent of ethnic minority cadres for the political system, maintain political security, promote socio-economic development of mountainous, remote and isolated areas...

"Because of their starting point, the living conditions of many students are not as favorable as those of students in the lowlands and urban areas. Therefore, with the same educational program, schools and teachers must attach great importance to innovating teaching methods, must be persistent, persistent, and certain, with the most appropriate pedagogical methods, helping students make up for their lack of knowledge, not chasing after scores and achievements, and learning to be sure. Reality shows that each individual has their own unique abilities. Therefore, one of the important tasks of education is to promptly discover the talents and strengths of each student in different fields, on that basis, have appropriate education, training, and nurturing methods, associated with career orientation for students suitable to their abilities and living conditions in the future," the President emphasized.

President Vo Van Thuong suggested that schools should attach importance to studying and practicing; organize students to work actively, increase production, improve daily life, know how to preserve and beautify the school landscape... From there, help students to be more aware of their responsibility to the collective, improve discipline, consolidate knowledge, form and practice life skills. Along with improving facilities, teaching and learning conditions, and boarding, schools must fully implement the State's policies and regimes for students, affirming the superiority of the ethnic boarding general education model, and absolutely not allowing any mistakes to occur.

"We must constantly care for and pay attention to the practical material and spiritual lives of the students. Every teacher, administrator, and worker in the school must be devoted to their beloved students, love them like their own children, and take good care of them from their studies to their meals and sleep, especially when they are away from their families," the President said.

The President requested the Youth Union and Youth Union of Gia Lai Provincial Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities to proactively research and actively advise the Party Committee and the Board of Directors to effectively organize political and ideological education, cultural, artistic, physical education and sports activities, types of clubs, teams, extracurricular activities... with quality, practicality, and suitability to the needs of young people and the conditions of the school.

President Vo Van Thuong also requested Party committees, Party organizations, authorities, the Fatherland Front, unions, parents and people of Gia Lai province to continue to pay practical attention and make appropriate investments in the education cause of the province in general and ethnic boarding and semi-boarding schools in particular. It is necessary to build a truly clean, healthy and safe educational environment so that teachers and students can teach and learn in joy and happiness, and maximize their individual creativity, contributing significantly to the successful implementation of fundamental and comprehensive educational reform in the country.

President Vo Van Thuong presented 10 gifts to students of Gia Lai province's Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities and donated 100 million VND to Gia Lai province's scholarship fund.

Vietnam National Petroleum Group donated 20 billion VND to Gia Lai province to support the construction of schools, boarding areas and kitchens for students in disadvantaged areas.

Also on the morning of September 5, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son and the Education Publishing House presented Gia Lai province with 190,000 sets of textbooks to distribute to students in disadvantaged areas, ethnic minority students, and shared bookcases.
