The scarf and the Minister's message

The 9th National Farmers' Forum in 2024 has the message "listen together, share together" focusing on discussing some main contents: Reconstruction and production recovery after natural disasters caused by Typhoon Yagi and recent floods, in which major issues such as support for plants, seeds, agricultural inputs, agricultural insurance support policies; especially the need to create conditions for debt forgiveness, debt extension and new capital loans for households directly affected by recent storms and floods, helping farmers quickly restore production.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan presented a scarf to Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers' Union Luong Quoc Doan.

Besides, there are issues about mechanisms and policies to promote green, sustainable agricultural production, reduce emissions towards the Netzero target, and issues about production planning.

Many farmers are also interested in the mechanism and policies to support and encourage farmers, including good farmers in production and business through the activities of Farmers' Associations at all levels, on continuing to innovate the forms of organization and activities of farmer members such as establishing farmers' clubs, promoting the effectiveness and role of branches and professional associations as the basis and foundation for establishing cooperatives and cooperatives; issues of support, building agricultural product brands, promoting agricultural products on digital platforms.

The image of the two leaders chairing the Forum creates a sense of closeness and familiarity with farmers.

This is also the first time the Forum has been held with the co-chairing of two leaders, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union Luong Quoc Doan and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan. One of the things that left a strong impression on most of the delegates attending the Forum was the image of the two co-chairing leaders wearing a checkered scarf - a familiar item for farmers, especially farmers in the Mekong Delta. This is also the gift that Minister Le Minh Hoan presented to Chairman Luong Quoc Doan.

Explaining the message of wearing a scarf while chairing the Forum, Minister Le Minh Hoan said: "The scarf is the image of the farmer, representing the farmer. These images are very familiar to us, and are also the items that farmers use every day in life and in work.

"I chose the scarf to remind that farmers are always the main subject in the goal of economic development in general, and in the development of agriculture, farmers and rural areas in particular. Therefore, at this Forum, we also carry out the right message: let farmers speak their voice, and we listen and share" - Minister Le Minh Hoan shared.

Minister Le Minh Hoan shared: "I chose the scarf to remind that farmers are always in the main position."

Previously, in an interview with Dan Viet reporter before the Forum, the Minister also sent his thanks to outstanding Vietnamese farmers and typical cooperatives nationwide in 2024.

"I want to thank the pioneering farmers, because it is only those who are pioneering, who dare to overcome difficulties, who dare to overcome adversity, that have today's agricultural picture. I know, there are farmers who choose a new path and are doubted by their families and relatives, even scolded for being "crazy", but they still overcome, approach new thinking, new models. I consider that bravery.

Indeed, the portraits of those farmers have inspired me, as the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development. They are also the ones who inspire other farmers. Therefore, the honoring does not stop at praising their production and business achievements but also honoring their journey, honoring the image of farmers who have overcome in the process of transforming the agricultural sector."
