Gifted with mathematics since childhood

With 29.47 points in the high school graduation exam according to the combination of block A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry) and 29.65 points in block A01 (Math, Physics, English), Dang Quoc Vinh excellently became the valedictorian of the Computer Science major at Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

With the advantage of being one of 12 candidates nationwide who scored 10 in Math in the high school graduation exam, plus the special scoring formula for Math multiplied by a coefficient of 2 according to school regulations, Vinh was admitted to the Computer Science major.

"The family did not think about him becoming valedictorian, but only wanted him to have the opportunity to enter the profession of his choice. Achieving such high results, the family is very happy and joyful" - Ms. Bui Thi Viet Ha - Quoc Vinh's mother emotionally said.

Ms. Ha also added that before Vinh, there was an older sister who also studied at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. From a young age, Vinh showed a talent for Math, and by the time he was in 5th grade, Vinh had won a national Math prize.

"Since he was a child, Vinh had a certain passion for Math. In grade 4, he was awarded the title of "Phuc Nguyen" of Hai Duong province, and in grade 5, he competed in the national Math competition. In grade 9, he won first prize in the provincial Math competition. In addition to being good at Math, Vinh also excelled in other subjects" - Ms. Ha recounted.

To achieve today's results, in addition to his natural qualities, Quoc Vinh also has a good family background that gives him more motivation to strive and develop.

"The important thing is that my child has a good study routine and sets goals for himself. My mother is a teacher and my father is a soldier, so my family only partially supports me so that I can study well," said Ms. Ha.

The obedient and humble student

Guiding and accompanying Vinh since he first entered grade 10, Ms. Luu Hai Vinh - homeroom teacher of grade 12A, Ninh Giang High School said that Vinh is an intelligent and agile student.

"In addition to being the homeroom teacher, I also directly teach Math to Vinh. Vinh is a studious and hard-working student. He participates in the school's excellent student team in Informatics and Math. In grade 11, he won second prize in Informatics and second prize in Math at the provincial level in grade 12. During his three years of high school, his average score in Math was always 10" - Ms. Vinh commented.

Ms. Vinh commented that despite his outstanding academic achievements, Vinh is very modest and always actively participates in school and class activities and movements.

Regarding her student's achievement of being valedictorian, Ms. Vinh said that this is an achievement that is extremely worthy of her student's efforts.

"The achievement that Vinh achieved as valedictorian is very worthy. Previously, Vinh had a TOEIC English certificate score of 830/990 and a thinking test score of 96 points - a score that only 7 people achieved. If not considering the graduation exam score, Vinh would still pass the Computer Science major with the thinking test score. I hope that in the future, he will always study and be more successful" - Ms. Vinh wished.
