121 billion VND spent on building and repairing houses for policy beneficiaries

(Dan Tri) - The People's Committee of Hai Duong province submitted to the Provincial People's Council a proposal to allocate 121 billion VND to build and repair houses for households with meritorious services, relatives of martyrs, poor households, and near-poor households in the area.

At the 29th session starting from February 20, the Hai Duong Provincial People's Council will consider the proposal of the Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee to issue a resolution to support housing costs for households with meritorious services, relatives of martyrs, poor households, and near-poor households in the province.

The People's Committee of Hai Duong province proposed that the Provincial People's Council approve the issuance of a policy to support funding for building new houses or repairing existing houses for a total of 1,638 households residing in the province who have requested housing support and belong to 3 target groups.

The first group is households of meritorious people and relatives of martyrs who have been recognized by competent authorities according to regulations and are living in temporary houses or severely damaged houses.

Next are poor households and near-poor households according to the multidimensional poverty standards for the period 2021-2025 whose names are on the statistical list according to the results of the periodic review in 2024, and have been recognized by competent authorities as living in temporary or dilapidated houses.

The above households must be on the list approved by the District People's Committee as eligible for housing support and have reported to the Provincial People's Committee.

In case a household with meritorious services to the revolution, a martyr's relative, a poor household, or a near-poor household belonging to the above subjects has built or is building a new house or repairing a house and passes away, support will be provided to the authorized representative of the household with meritorious services, a martyr's relative, a poor household, or a near-poor household.

The support level proposed by Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee is 100 million VND/newly built house and 50 million VND/repaired house from existing housing.

The budget for supporting 1,638 households is 121 billion VND. Of this, 68.2 billion VND supports the construction and repair of houses for families of meritorious people and martyrs' relatives, and the remaining amount supports poor and near-poor households.

The funding source for each specific target group comes from the central budget, provincial budget or socialized sources mobilized from enterprises, organizations, agencies, units, philanthropists and other legal funding sources.

Support implementation time in 2025.
