This afternoon, June 25, the Rong May glass bridge tourist area in Lai Chau province had to temporarily close due to landslides.
Information from Lai Chau province said that due to prolonged heavy rain, a large amount of water from upstream poured onto the road leading to the Rong May glass bridge area in Tam Duong district (Lai Chau province) on June 25.
Water, along with trees, trash and rocks, flooded down and collapsed the corrugated iron roof and pillars of the service building (waiting room). Many items such as goods, supplies, motorbikes, etc. were damaged by rocks and dirt. Rocks and dirt also flowed down the road leading to the waiting room.
According to Mr. Sung Lu Pao, Chairman of Tam Duong District People's Committee, the incident did not cause any human damage. A representative of the Management Board of Rong May Lai Chau Glass Bridge Tourist Area also said that the service area and the waiting room for guests did not have any staff, so when the flood caused the landslide, fortunately there were no human damages.
According to records at the scene, by the afternoon of June 25, this tourist area had to put up a barrier to temporarily close, not receiving tourists; at the same time, workers were mobilized to fix the problem (expected to be completed after 2 days).
