Characteristics of Dai Binh lotus powder

Favored by nature with a cool climate and unique soil, Dai Binh village (Trung Phuoc town, Nong Son) has many specialties, including lotus.

Mr. Hua Dinh Ha - Deputy Director of Dai Binh Ecological Cooperative said that Dai Binh lotus was granted a VietGAP certificate on March 11, 2019.

According to the test results, the main ingredients in the vegetable include 61.7% glucid, 2.24% lipid and many other amino acids necessary for the body. In recent years, many places have propagated and grown lotus plants, but no place has the delicious taste like Dai Binh.

Originating from the idea of ​​promoting lotus vegetable specialties, providing them to consumers everywhere while still maintaining the same quality as fresh vegetables, Dai Binh Ecological Cooperative boldly researched, produced and launched freeze-dried lotus vegetable powder.

According to Mr. Ha, the process of making lotus powder ensures food hygiene and safety, and retains high nutritional value. After being picked and carefully selected, the vegetables are cleaned, drained, and freeze-dried for 24-30 hours. This technology helps to preserve almost the original flavor and nutritional value of fresh vegetables. When the vegetables are dried and cooled, they will be finely ground and packaged.

“The lotus powder product was launched in March 2024. Although it is still being promoted and tested, the product has received positive feedback from customers.

Currently, in addition to expanding the production scale of 3-star OCOP products such as Dai Binh peanut oil, grapefruit, etc., in the coming time, we will strive to complete the dossier and upgrade lotus powder products to participate in the OCOP program," said Mr. Ha.

Duy Oanh green bean pennywort powder

Taking us to visit the fields specializing in growing pennywort, green beans and other agricultural products that are flourishing, Ms. Pham Thi Duy My - Director of Duy Oanh Green Agriculture Cooperative (Duy Son Commune, Duy Xuyen) said that for many years, the unit has proactively cooperated with farmers to produce and supply input materials, serving the production of products that meet OCOP 4-star and 3-star standards. At the same time, it has gradually helped farmers change their farming habits towards organic and safe farming.

Ms. My shared: “How to drink a glass of pennywort and mung bean juice that is both convenient and ensures quality? That is what prompted Duy Oanh Green Agriculture Cooperative to research and launch pennywort and mung bean powder products in May 2024.

Accordingly, after harvesting and cleaning, pennywort is freeze-dried and sterilized at 35ºC for 12 hours. Green beans are screened, cleaned and roasted in a “charcoal cast iron oven”. Then mixed well and ground into powder.

Currently, the Cooperative is linking production and purchasing pennywort in many localities such as Dien Ban, Duy Xuyen, Dai Loc, Hoi An with an area of ​​about 1.5 hectares; linking production of 2 hectares of green beans, ensuring clean input materials.

According to Ms. My, the way to use gotu kola green bean powder is very simple, just dissolve it in warm water or boiling water, add rock sugar, fresh milk, juice to taste, drink warm or add ice. The product integrates ensuring nutritional content, pure flavor and convenience, suitable for modern life.

Currently, Duy Oanh Green Agriculture Cooperative is producing products such as Duy Oanh cereal powder, brown rice and seaweed bars, green bean pennywort powder, etc. The Cooperative strictly controls quality right from the raw material area, planting, harvesting, processing, to production and packaging of products.

It can be seen that investing in specialized products contributes to affirming the advantages of the agricultural sector, increasing the value and consumption of typical agricultural products of localities. Thereby, promoting the process of converting crop structure, increasing income for farmers.

Pursuant to Resolution No. 17 (dated December 17, 2019) of the Provincial People's Council on policies to encourage the development of cooperation and association in the production and consumption of agricultural products, up to now, in Quang Nam, there have been 81 approved association projects, attracting 80 cooperatives and 73 enterprises to participate in the chain with 17,261 households, mainly concentrated in the fields of cultivation, forestry and livestock.

Cooperation and production linkage bring practical efficiency, contribute to building stable raw material areas, developing deep processing of agricultural products, and are the basis for implementing the OCOP program.
