(CLO) On December 29, on the Hau River, through Cai Khe ward (Ninh Kieu, Can Tho city), the first sailboat race was held.
The sailing race is an activity in the series of events of the 7th Ninh Kieu Tourism Festival - Flower Lantern Night (Can Tho) in 2024, taking place from December 28 to January 1, 2025.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Anh - Permanent Vice Chairman of Ninh Kieu District People's Committee - Can Tho City said that the Ninh Kieu, Can Tho Tourism Festival - Flower Lantern Night was held for the seventh time and is an annual activity held on a large scale and is a typical highlight of the district in terms of cultural, artistic and sports activities associated with tourism development.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Anh added that within the framework of the Festival, there will be cultural and artistic exchanges, folk games, street music; traditional musical instruments, and floating lanterns. In particular, to create diversity for the Festival's activities, for the first time, the district will organize a sailboat race.

This year, the race brings together 6 modern sailboats, 4.76m long, 2-person capacity, meeting international standards, ensuring safety and optimal performance.
In addition to the sailing race, locals and tourists can experience a 62-person sailing boat right on the Hau River.
Through a series of activities during the Festival, the Organizing Committee hopes to create a bridge for exchanges and meetings between state management agencies at all levels with companies, businesses, travel agencies, and event units.
On that basis, the parties exchange experiences, cooperate and promote each other in the fields of economic - cultural - sports - tourism development.
The content and organization are oriented towards community, exchange, preservation and promotion of traditional values combined with modernity, promoting the image of the people and land of Can Tho as elegant and hospitable.
