28,279 billion VND needed to upgrade more than 15 km of My Phuoc - Tan Van road

To invest in renovating and upgrading 15.3 km of My Phuoc - Tan Van road (Ring Road 3, Ho Chi Minh City), VND 28,279 billion is needed. However, currently, there is no capital source for investment.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has just issued document No. 8280/SGTVT-XD reporting to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on the investment plan for section 15.3 of My Phuoc - Tan Van road, which currently overlaps with Ring Road 3, Ho Chi Minh City, through Binh Duong province.

This route was invested in by Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee and put into operation in 2015.

A section of Ring Road 3, Ho Chi Minh City from My Phuoc to Tan Van passing through Binh Duong has been completed and put into operation.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, the existing 15.3 km section of My Phuoc - Tan Van road overlaps with the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3, which is currently in operation with 6 lanes and intersections on the route, which cannot ensure traffic capacity when Ring Road 3 is put into operation in 2026.

Previously, when establishing the investment policy for the Ring Road 3 Project, Binh Duong province proposed to build intersections on My Phuoc - Tan Van road using ODA capital.

However, the investment in intersections expected to be completed in 2027-2028 (later than Ring Road 3) will create great traffic pressure on My Phuoc - Tan Van road, risking traffic congestion along the entire Ring Road 3 route.

According to the report of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee, to invest in upgrading and renovating the 15.3 km section to ensure traffic capacity on the entire route when Ring Road 3 is put into operation in 2026, it will require VND 28,279 billion.

Currently, Binh Duong province is studying investment options for this route and has sent a document to the Prime Minister to consider supporting and approving the policy of assigning Binh Duong province to invest in the form of public investment.

In Notice No. 175/TB-VPCP dated April 22, 2024 of the Government Office, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha agreed to assign the Ministry of Transport to preside over and coordinate with the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the People's Committee of Binh Duong province to propose specific investment implementation plans and report to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision.
