Vinmec and VFF strategic cooperation to improve the quality of sports medicine

On April 1, 2025, Vinmec Healthcare System and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement to focus on player health care, while expanding training and research to comprehensively improve the quality of Vietnamese sports medicine.

The event not only helps improve the quality of health care for athletes, but also promotes the sustainable development of sports medicine in the country.

The signing ceremony was attended by representatives of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Vinmec Healthcare System and many national team players.

Ms. Le Thuy Anh, General Director of Vinmec Healthcare System and Mr. Nguyen Van Phu, General Secretary of Vietnam Football Federation represented the two sides to officially sign a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement.

Accordingly, Vinmec will send experienced medical experts to directly participate and accompany the health care of the players throughout the training and competition process in major tournaments of AFF - Southeast Asian Football Championship, AFC - Asian Football Cup and FIFA - World Football Federation. In addition, Vietnam's leading academic medical system will provide maximum support in connecting and creating conditions for athletes to access the most advanced treatment methods, from the world's leading team of experts and prestigious hospitals.

With the advantage of managing the Vietnam national team, VFF will create conditions for Vinmec's medical experts to participate in health care for players during training and competitions. At the same time, VFF will cooperate with Vinmec in scientific research, testing and applying advanced treatment methods in the field of sports medicine. This strategy aims to support Vinmec to improve and enhance quality, aiming to achieve the FIFA Sports Medicine Center of Excellence certification.

Immediately after the signing ceremony, Vinmec will coordinate with VFF to organize scientific seminars and specialized training programs for sports medical staff, updating the latest advances in diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries. In addition, the two units will launch campaigns to disseminate knowledge and raise awareness of sports health care for the community in Vietnam.

Speaking about the cooperation between the two sides, Mr. Nguyen Van Phu, General Secretary of VFF said: “We deeply appreciate the dedicated and effective support from Vinmec over the years. The professional quality of treatment that Vinmec provides has helped players receive the best care, thereby improving the performance of the teams. We believe that, with the comprehensive strategic cooperation, the values ​​we create for the players will increase, strongly promoting the development and sustainability of Vietnamese sports medicine.”

Vinmec is the only unit in Vietnam with a pioneering Movement Analysis Department applying the most advanced technology and techniques to injury treatment and sports medicine.

Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Dung, Director of the Center for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, Vinmec Times City International General Hospital, affirmed: “Orthopedic injuries and sports medicine are one of the strengths and leading professional development orientations of Vinmec. With this cooperation, we not only focus on treating injuries but also raising awareness, preventing injuries and improving long-term fitness. We are committed to making every effort to train, research and apply advanced treatment methods to treat injuries, creating the best mentality and physical strength for athletes to contribute to further improving the quality of sports medicine in Vietnam”.

Previously, Vinmec and VFF signed a cooperation agreement valid for 3 years (2022-2024) to sponsor medical examinations, organize professional consultations and treat injuries for members of the National Team.

In Vietnam, Vinmec is the only unit with a Motion Analysis Lab, a pioneer in developing and applying the most advanced technology and techniques in the treatment of injuries and sports medicine, typically: arthroscopic surgery to reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament using the "anatomical mapping" method with advanced 3D positioning technology...

The comprehensive strategic cooperation event between Vinmec and VFF is not only a step forward in medical care for the players but also affirms the efforts and dedication of Vinmec Healthcare System in accompanying and contributing to the sustainable development of Vietnamese Sports.

In May 2024, Vinmec Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Center was officially recognized as a “Sports Medicine Center of Excellence” according to the standards of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). This is also one of the 4 Centers of Excellence according to Vinmec's international standards, along with Cardiology, Oncology and Clinical Immunology. The Center meets the highest criteria in terms of: infrastructure, clinical expertise, sports science support, emergency response capabilities, and research.

Vinmec has successfully treated, operated on and supported national players such as Le Van Xuan, Nguyen Van Toan, Chuong Thi Kieu, Thai Thi Thao, Nguyen Thi Van... and more than 50 other players of the national teams, overcoming serious injuries to return to contribute to the national team.
