On March 12, Donnarumma became the hero in PSG's dramatic penalty shootout victory over Liverpool in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 at Anfield. This result helped the Ligue 1 representative advance convincingly to the quarter-finals.

Donnarumma's brilliant performance opened up the possibility of him staying at PSG. Before the match, the French media criticized and considered the Italian international a "sinner" after his poor performance in the first leg against Liverpool.

Enzo Raiola, Donnarumma's representative, shared: "We do not have any conflicts with the club. I have to do everything for the good of the player. The only club Gianluigi wants to play for is PSG. His priority is to extend his playing time in Paris."

Negotiations between PSG and Donnarumma have stalled in recent months. The French club are considering extending the contract depending on their performance in the Champions League. However, an impressive performance against Liverpool has created a major turning point, opening up the opportunity for Donnarumma to stay at PSG. According to L'Equipe , both PSG and the Italian goalkeeper want to sign a new contract, which is expected to be completed by the end of this season.

In the Champions League quarter-finals, PSG will face Aston Villa. The first leg will be played on April 8, the second leg on April 15.

Luis Enrique's team has not lost a match in Ligue 1 since the beginning of the season, and is on the way to breaking many records. With only 8 rounds left in Ligue 1, PSG is almost on the verge of winning the championship.
