Bruno has carried MU this season, contributing to 31 goals (16 goals, 15 assists). |
According to Joe Cole, Fernandes has shouldered too much responsibility at Manchester United but still does not receive the support and praise he deserves, especially in the context of the team having difficulty challenging for major titles.
The former midfielder, who won three Premier League titles with Chelsea, believes Fernandes deserves to play for a team capable of winning major trophies.
"If I were Bruno Fernandes, I would definitely look to leave Manchester United. He has the biggest responsibility but always receives criticism from all sides," Mirror quoted Cole's statement.
The former Chelsea midfielder also claimed Bruno did not receive the respect he deserved. Cole added: "Bruno is always the one who takes the blame for his teammates and coaches, even though he is always the one scoring goals, creating assists and moving the team forward. This is part of playing for Manchester United but Bruno certainly cannot be satisfied."
Fernandes joined Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon in 2020 and has been a huge part of the Old Trafford outfit since, helping the Red Devils win the Carabao Cup and FA Cup. Despite some success, the Old Trafford outfit have yet to regain glory in the two most important competitions, the Premier League and the Champions League.
