Ranked 56th last year, Binh Phuoc rose to 32nd this year with 8/9 subjects increasing their scores, making it the locality with the strongest increase in graduation exam scores.
The 2023 high school graduation exam scores of more than one million candidates were announced by the Ministry of Education and Training on the morning of July 18.
Vinh Phuc is the leading locality in the country with 7,219 points (average of 9 graduation exam subjects), but Binh Phuoc is the locality with the strongest improvement.
This year, Binh Phuoc's average score is 6.417, an increase of 0.38 points compared to last year. In the 9 subjects, this province only decreased its Geography score following the general trend of the whole country, the rest increased.
Of which, Binh Phuoc leads the country in the increase in Biology with 1.61 points. In Math, Physics and History, 62 other provinces and cities decreased their scores, only Binh Phuoc increased all three. Thanks to that, this province has risen from 56th place last year (average score 6.037) to 32nd place this year.
The second strongest increase was in Kien Giang. This province improved 13 places, from 50th to 37th, with an average score from 6.136 to 6.349.
Phu Yen and Dong Nai both rose 8 places, Kon Tum 6, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City rose 5 places in the rankings of average scores in high school graduation exams. Five provinces that maintained their rankings were Ha Giang, Phu Tho, Ha Nam, Ninh Binh and Dak Lak.
On the contrary, 24 provinces and cities dropped in rank. Yen Bai dropped the most, from 30th last year to 48th this year, with an average score from 6.32 to 6.24. Quang Nam, Gia Lai and Lao Cai dropped 10-11 places, with the rest below 10.
In terms of absolute scores, most provinces and cities increased, of which Binh Phuoc had the strongest increase with 0.38, Phu Yen 0.26, An Giang 0.219, Kien Giang 0.213. Other provinces increased by less than 0.2 points.
Seven localities with reduced average scores are Dien Bien, Ha Giang, Hai Phong, Cao Bang, Son La, Lao Cai, Yen Bai.

This year’s high school graduation exam took place over two days, June 28-29, with more than one million candidates taking the exam. Of these, more than 943,300 used the results to both qualify for graduation recognition and apply to colleges and universities.
After the exam scores were released, VnExpress provided a list of suggested majors and schools with last year's benchmark scores approaching the scores candidates achieved for each admission combination.
