On the afternoon of November 9, Colonel Bui Van Thao, Director of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Police, confirmed to a reporter of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper that the Provincial Police Investigation Agency had issued a decision to prosecute and arrest the accused for temporary detention against Mr. Tran Phu Vinh (born in 1968, residing in Vung Tau City).
It is known that last night, the Criminal Investigation Department of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province police searched Mr. Vinh's residence and workplace.
Mr. Vinh was transferred and appointed to the position of Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Vung Tau City in September 2023, previously holding the position of Chief Inspector of Vung Tau City.
Mr. Tran Phu Vinh was prosecuted and temporarily detained to investigate the crime of "Bribery Brokerage". The decisions were delivered to Mr. Vinh on the evening of November 8, at which time the police and the People's Procuracy also searched Mr. Vinh's workplace and private home.
It is known that Mr. Vinh's bribery brokerage behavior is not related to the field he is in charge of but before the time Mr. Vinh held the position of Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Vung Tau City.
