The coastal road (DT 994) connecting Vung Tau city with Binh Thuan province, built nearly 20 years ago, has become narrow and cannot meet current traffic needs.

In June 2023, the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province decided to invest in upgrading the road to 6-8 lanes, with a design speed of 80km/h. The project has a total investment of more than 7,000 billion VND, divided into 8 component sections.

The nearly 77km long route passes through Vung Tau city, Long Dien, Dat Do, Xuyen Moc districts, from there connecting with the coastal road to Binh Thuan province.

Up to now, the Vung Tau coastal road project connecting Binh Thuan province has taken shape, stretching through the urban area, winding along the coast. In the photo is the National Highway 51 intersection that has been completed and expanded to 8-10 lanes. The system of signs, road markings, and trees is still under construction.

The road section from the National Highway 51 intersection to Cua Lap Bridge was newly built, passing through swampy areas and aquaculture ponds. Many weak ground sections were leveled and treated.

Cua Lap 2 Bridge connecting Vung Tau City and Long Dat District is newly invested in construction parallel to the existing bridge. The bridge is 721m long and 12.5m wide. The construction site on the Vung Tau City side is completing the bridge deck.

Truong Sa Street, over 8km long, connecting Long Son island commune with Ward 12, Vung Tau City, has been expanded to 6 lanes.

Workers and machinery are working tirelessly on the construction site of Cay Khe 2 and Cay Khe 7 bridges. The Go Gang and Cha Va bridges connecting Vung Tau City with Long Son island commune on the route will remain intact.

The section through Ky Van Cape (or Nuoc Ngot Pass) was widened by building a viaduct. Here, on one side is the vast ocean, on the other side is Minh Dam Mountain, famous for its historical value, creating an attractive route, attracting those who love to travel .

Currently, the contractor is arranging two bored pile construction points.

At the road section passing through Binh Chau market (Xuyen Moc district), residents have retreated 6-8m and handed over the site to the contractor.

Many workers and machines work day and night on this road.

"The construction progress is very fast, everyone is looking forward to the completion of the road for convenient travel and to promote the local economy," said Mr. Hoang Van Tai (living at the Binh Chau fishing port intersection).

At the section passing through Phuoc Hai town, Long Dat district, the road was newly built towards the rice fields to avoid the tourist areas along the coast. Here, the road has been expanded to 6 lanes, the system of signs and sidewalks has been fully installed.

Currently, there is still about 30km of the section from Phuoc Hai town to Bung Rieng commune (Xuyen Moc district) that has not been expanded.

The Vung Tau - Binh Thuan coastal road expansion project is expected to be completed in March 2026. The project helps to complete the transport infrastructure, enhancing connectivity between important economic and coastal tourism areas of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province and neighboring provinces.
