On the afternoon of August 14, the leader of Cu Jut District Police said that they had just coordinated with the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of Dak Nong Provincial Police to crack down on a case of "fraudulent appropriation of property" that occurred in the area.

Currently, Cu Jut District Police have initiated a case, prosecuted the accused and issued a detention order for Ngo Truong Thinh (born in 1993, residing in Tan Thoi Hoa ward, Tan Phu district, Ho Chi Minh City).

Initial investigation results show that, due to needing money for football betting, from 2020 to present, Ngo Truong Thinh has created many Facebook accounts posting articles and images with calls for money to support cases of death, lonely elderly people, serious illnesses and calling for the construction of pagodas...

After posting the article and photos on his personal Facebook page, many people transferred money to Thinh through bank accounts and the money was appropriated by the subject.

Police determined that from 2020 until his arrest on August 1, 2023, Thinh had defrauded and appropriated over 3.6 billion VND from more than 3,000 people in provinces and cities across the country. Among them was Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh N., residing in Cu Jut district.

During an emergency search of Ngo Truong Thinh’s residence, the police seized objects and documents related to the act of fraud and property appropriation on the internet. The case is being further investigated and expanded by the Cu Jut District Police.

Cu Jut District Police also called on anyone who has been a victim of similar fraud to urgently contact the Criminal Police Team of Cu Jut District Police for guidance and resolution.
