Within the framework of the 8th Vietnam-China Border Defense Friendship Exchange, on the morning of April 12, a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense led by General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, went to Yunnan province (China) to participate in friendship exchange activities.
The welcoming ceremony for Minister Phan Van Giang and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense was solemnly held at the Hekou Border Gate (China) chaired by Senior Lieutenant General Dong Jun, Minister of National Defense of China. Here, the Ministers of National Defense of the two countries performed the border marker salute ceremony; Minister Dong Jun painted the sovereignty marker 102 (1) on the Chinese side; and witnessed the joint patrol on land between the border protection forces of the two countries.

Previously, on April 11, in Lao Cai province, the following activities took place: Welcoming ceremony of the high-ranking delegation of the Chinese Ministry of National Defense at Lao Cai International Border Gate; Ministers of National Defense of the two countries performed a ceremony to salute the border marker; planted a friendship tree on the Vietnam-China border at Lao Cai International Border Gate; Minister Phan Van Giang painted the sovereignty marker 102 (2) on the Vietnamese side. Next, Minister Phan Van Giang and Minister Dong Quan, together with the high-ranking delegation of the two Ministries of National Defense, attended the inauguration ceremony of the Vietnam-China Friendship Cultural House in Ban Phiet commune, Bao Thang district, Lao Cai province; visited and presented gifts to Kim Dong Primary School (Lao Cai city); visited the Border Guard Station of Lao Cai International Border Gate.

During the talks between the high-ranking delegations of the two countries' Ministries of National Defense at the Lao Cai Provincial Conference Center on the same morning, Minister Phan Van Giang affirmed that the Vietnam-China Border Defense Friendship Exchange is a very important activity, contributing to enhancing political trust, mutual understanding, tightening solidarity and cohesion between the people, local authorities and the Ministries of National Defense of Vietnam and China; joining hands to build a peaceful, friendly, stable, cooperative and developing Vietnam-China border.

The two sides also affirmed that the Vietnam-China Border Defense Friendship Exchange mechanism is an important activity, a bright spot with widespread influence, highly appreciated by senior leaders, the Government, the army and the people of the two countries. After 10 years with 8 successful events, the Vietnam-China Border Defense Friendship Exchange has become an effective and unique cooperation model; demonstrating the political determination of the two sides in strengthening the solidarity, friendship and attachment between the people, local authorities and the two Ministries of Defense, together building a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.
