Strengthening peace, friendship and stability in the Vietnam-China border areas and border gates

At the invitation of the National Immigration Administration of the People's Republic of China, a delegation from the Border Guard Command, Ministry of National Defense visited China and attended a political exchange between the Border Guard and Immigration forces from September 23 to September 25, 2024.

During the exchange program, the delegation of the Border Guard Command led by Lieutenant General Nguyen Anh Tuan, Political Commissar of the Border Guard, and the delegation of the National Immigration Administration of the People's Republic of China led by Deputy Director Ly Tuan Kiet, conducted exchange activities, visited cultural exhibitions, visited the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association Headquarters relic site and the basic units of the National Immigration Administration of China.

The two sides held high-level talks, frankly exchanged and evaluated the results achieved, and agreed on many important issues to guide the promotion of cooperation between the Vietnam Border Guard Command and the National Immigration Administration of China in general and political exchanges in particular to become increasingly effective, in-depth, and comprehensive, contributing to strengthening the peaceful, friendly, and stable environment in the Vietnam-China border areas and border gates.

The two sides agreed and highly appreciated the effectiveness of political exchange activities, affirming that over the past 10 years of implementation, this activity has made important new progress. The two sides have organized 2 political exchange sessions at the Command/Department level in 2016 and 2019; 5 cultural-sports exchanges, seminars to exchange experiences in Party work, political work and legal propaganda at the provincial level between the Border Guard Commands of Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Dien Bien provinces/Vietnam and the General Border Inspection Station of Guangxi, Yunnan/China in 2017, 2018, 2020, 2023.

At the grassroots level, political, cultural and sports exchange activities are held annually at 82 pairs of twinned stations "Post-Station-Team friendship, peaceful border" with many vivid and meaningful models and practices such as "Learning from each other's experiences in Party building, building exemplary Party organizations together"; "The Party flag illuminates the border"; "Speaking the neighbor's language, singing friendship songs together", voting for "Vietnam-China Friendship Ambassadors"; "Outstanding Party members"...

Speaking at the talks, Lieutenant General Nguyen Anh Tuan suggested that in the coming time, the two sides should promote political exchange and cooperation activities at all levels; improve the effectiveness of twinning activities at stations and seriously implement twinning activities between grassroots Party organizations; replicate the models of "Friendship Ambassadors" and "Outstanding Party Members"; increase exchanges and sharing of experiences to improve political theory levels; and strengthen cooperation in training cadres.

Continue to research and develop an educational, training and coaching exchange mechanism to promote more diverse and effective cooperation in training and human resource training between the two sides; strengthen cooperation in disseminating and popularizing laws at the grassroots level, cultural and sports exchanges; jointly consolidate and expand the results of the pilot exchange of political work at the grassroots level.
