When will Ho Chi Minh road, section through Binh Duong, be open to traffic?

TPO – In order for the Ho Chi Minh Road project to be completed in time for traffic opening on April 30, 2025, the leaders of Binh Duong province requested the construction unit to make efforts to speed up the progress in the spirit of "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain".

On August 25, according to reporters at the construction site of the Ho Chi Minh Road project through Binh Duong province, construction units are actively working, even on holidays, rain or shine.

The Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board said that the project passes through the provinces of Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh and Long An, most of which is in Binh Duong province. The project has a total investment of nearly 2,300 billion VND. Of which, the cost of compensation for site clearance and resettlement support is 264 billion VND; construction costs are more than 1,667 billion VND; project management, consulting and other costs are more than 125 billion VND. This section of the road passes through the southeastern provinces connecting the Central Highlands and the southwestern region, creating space for urban and service development.

The Ho Chi Minh Road Construction Investment Project, Chon Thanh - Duc Hoa section, passes through Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh and Long An provinces, starting at Tru Van Tho commune (Bau Bang district, Binh Duong province), ending at National Highway N2 in Duc Hoa district (Long An province) with a length of more than 72 km, of which the section passing through Binh Duong province is nearly 31 km with a scale of 6-lane highway, designed speed of 100 km/h.

The project has a total of 14 bridges (including 3 new bridges and 11 bridges under construction in the previous phase). Of which, the section through Binh Duong province has 6 bridges, including Thanh An bridge, a large bridge across the Saigon River connecting Binh Duong and Tay Ninh provinces. The bridge has 13 spans, is more than 617m long, and was started in November 2023 and is expected to be completed in 2025. The project is divided into 3 construction packages, of which the package in Binh Duong province (Bau Bang district and Dau Tieng district) is constructed by Deo Ca Group Joint Stock Company.

According to the report of the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board, up to now, the project has completed the ground construction, and is currently constructing the foundation layer of all types of road surfaces, reaching 26/31km; asphalt concrete paving reaching 4/31km and striving to complete asphalt concrete paving and technical traffic opening by April 30, 2025.

The project's drainage culverts have been basically completed. Regarding bridges, the project has been basically completed and will open to traffic the following bridges: Ba Tu, Phuoc Hoa canal before December 2024. Thi Tinh and Cay Truong bridges are expected to be completed before January 2025. Thanh An bridge is under construction, expected to be completed in February 2025 and other items will be basically completed before April 30, 2025.

The total construction output of the entire project to date has reached 423/1,665 billion VND (25.5% of the contract value), basically ensuring progress.

Site clearance work for the section through Binh Duong province has been basically completed, with about 30/30.9km handed over to the project from the previous phase, reaching 97%. Currently, the project still has some locations that have not been cleared.

To ensure the completion of the project on April 30, 2025 as planned, the Ho Chi Minh Road Management Board has just requested the People's Committee of Binh Duong province to direct relevant units to speed up site clearance and design documents, and approve the relocation of the power grid in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Recently, Binh Duong Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Van Loi had a working session with relevant units and localities. Mr. Loi requested to speed up the site clearance progress and urgently relocate the power grid.

For construction units, the Secretary of Binh Duong Provincial Party Committee requested to implement in the spirit of "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain" to reach the finish line on schedule.
